Our second episode of Great State Mural is up with @mongoliafocus.bsky.social. We talked about the new prime minister of Mongolia, Zandanshatar. Unfortunately, shit happened, and we lost most of the audio, so we scrapped it and put out an introductory episode about the podcast. pca.st/5dwlbede

I wrote about who will be the next PM of #Mongolia, how he got here, and what challenges await him. And also what the protest organizers said he should do to be a leader for the Mongolian people. asia.nikkei.com/Politics/Mon...

Earlier this afternoon Pres Khurelsukh formally introduced G Zandschantar as a nominee for Prime Minister. news.mn/r/2806751/ #Mongolia #MGLpoli

This was one of my passion projects, and finally we got it up and running. We launched our inaugural podcast, focusing on Mongolia's political and social issues, in collaboration with my two highly intelligent friends. The podcast is called "The Great State Mural" (working title). pca.st/9nl8wyfj

Fuck AI

The ruling Mongolian People's Party congress voted to nominate the former Speaker Zandanshatar as the new PM. isee.mn/n/79154

The former speaker of parliament appears to be the Mongolian People's Party's preferred candidate for the new prime minister. #Mongolia #Internationalpolitics www.polit.mn/a/107916

iSee reports that party council meeting originally scheduled today to select nominee for Prime Minister, has been postponed. Unclear what that means for party congress meant to formalize nomination envisioned for tomorrow. isee.mn/n/78953

I chuckled a little bit... 😅 But it is ok. There is enough "Mongolia- horse-as-diplomatic-gift" content on Netflix anyways. Low hanging ... mane, so to speak 🐴

The Guardian on end of Oyun-Erdene's time as Prime Minister. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j... #MGLpoli #Mongolia

Mongolia's PM, Oyun-Erdene, ousted. Losing the vote of confidence in parliament only receiving 44 votes out 125(126) from the MPs.

Some people wait in the dead of night to watch the Premier league or UFC due to the time difference. I am waiting to see if Mongolia's parliament is going to show confidence or no confidence for the Prime Minister. Democracy at work.

#Mongolia's parliament will vote today on a vote of confidence for Prime Minister #Oyun-Erdene. Last week, the ruling party decided the Prime Minister should resign. However, after much political handwringing, Oyun-Erdene has decided that parliament should decide his fate. ikon.mn/n/3f65 #politics

#Mongolia's PM, Oyun-Erdene, wants to keep his position and is banking on the confidence vote next week. However, political analysts have expressed he needs to resign to keep the integrity of Mongolia's democratic process. Read my story here 👇🏻 asia.nikkei.com/Politics/Mon...

#Mongolia's PM, who is facing blowback for his lavish lifestyle via his son, is going to fight to keep his position. PM has started painting the president as the true "bad guy" and is trying to bank on bureaucratic procedures to stall the "no-confidence" vote. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

It looks like #Mongolia's prime minister, Oyun-Erdene, is going to fight to keep his position. More specifically he might put on offense against the president, who he might have had falling out. A No-confidence vote is becoming more certain.

What’s interesting/ignorant about this is that we *do do the big things here - the AI and the weapons systems. And we don’t do T shirts and textiles at scale. Once again, he has no idea how any of this works.

After protests force a shake-up, who would become #Mongolia’s Next Prime Minister? Many of the leaders of the Mongolian People's Party are unwilling to step up to the leadership role, and they are probably going to force the current speaker to take up the mantle. thediplomat.com/2025/05/afte...

Mongolian traditional script of the poem "Mongol Khel" by Rinchen on the side of a building in Ulaanbaatar, I think done by the street artist/calligrapher Ochirone

Interesting alignment here w/ #Mongolia PM looking possibly to be on the way out, tho no obvious link to fate of Rio Tinto's #OyuTolgoi project in that move.

It is certain that the current Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene will step down. And it looks like the new government will form without the opposition party. The Democratic party leadership blames his party members for speaking out against the coalition. #internationalpolitics #Mongolia ubn.mn/p/84062

Mongolian government faces a crisis as the ruling Mongolian People's Party deliberates on maintaining the grand coalition with two other parties. To think this was because of l PM Oyun-Erdene's son posting his opulent engagement. urug.mn/165787/

Speaking of climate change, here is a perspective from a herder in Mongolia: "It is as if we stopped having winter and summer. Now, it seems we have just prolonged spring and fall with more erratic weather." #climate #climatechange #environment #Mongolia

The Mongolian People's Party will meet this Wednesday and likely come to decision if the PM Oyun-Erdene stays in his position or not. If he does resign, it would probably be the most embarrassing way for a leader of a country to lose his power: over instagram flex post. isee.mn/n/78235

Protesters have gathered for the Sixth day demanding the resignation of Mongolia's PM for his family extravagant lifestyle. Few local outlets have reported on how the PM along with finance minister setup an NGO to finance events like the Mongolia Economic Forum. isee.mn/n/78207

Lots of reports about protests against PM Oyun-Erdene on Sukhbaatar Sq today. Crowds don't look very substantial. Variety of governance failures of his govt addressed. isee.mn/n/78005 #Mongolia #MGLpoli

Over a hundred young Mongolians are demanding resignation of Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene over his son's lavish engagement proposal. The protesters want the PM to divulge his financial assets. ikon.mn/n/3em5

The second railway crossing to China has started in Mongolia. The railway is mainly going to haul coal from Mongolia to China. Hopefully this crossing will not be halted or stalled. www.montsame.mn/en/read/369365

#Mongolia's prime minister has been caught in a controversy over his son's relationship. The PM's son recently got engaged and gave his fiancée a diamond ring worth $5600. Mongolians are mad at how PM's son, who has no Uni degree or a stable job could afford such extravagance. ikon.mn/n/3ekr

Mongolia's Trumpian politician pushes for privatization of our postal service and uses TEMU's delivery services in the country as a better model. #Mongolia #temu #delivery ikon.mn/n/3eew

I truly appreciate Ishowspeed. No matter how outlandish he is, who truly tries to appreciate and learn from the places he goes. And as a Mongolian, I loved this stream.

This is sloppy journalism at best. This article would have been relevant in 2018. journalist never asked why is there more carbon monoxide poisoning? Cuz we have refined coal, and it is odorless. It is certain now coal is not single contributor to air pollution. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

Always an exciting spectacle at the Ulaanbaatar Golden Eagle Festival. #Mongolia

In Mongolia we also had this silly rule: no suit no entry to the government palace. But our leaders reluctantly realized not everyone, specifically citizens, has the means to own a suit and tie. Now you can enter the palace with any type of clothes as long as you aren't showing too much skin.

Ever since Mongolia embraced the free market economy it had devalued childcare, but still wanted women to rear children and participate in the workforce. But without proper childcare mother's looked toward their own mother's to give a hand. asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Bi...
