My friends know of my love of zines. I started making them when I was a teenager [that's a long time ago] and this essay includes lots of reasons that you should consider making your own zines in this moment we are living through: open.substack.com/pub/queerarc...

I will attempt to flesh out why the CBC's broadcast of Cross Country Checkup was so toxic today, since there are some people still expressing confusion or dismay at the criticisms, including my own, leveled at it. 1/? 🧵 #Canada #CBC

Put me out of my misery.

Truly

One of my best friends is from a sleepy, wealthy small town in the south-west of Germany. He said, so many of my parents’ neighbours are rich and bored, with little to complain about, and they’ve radicalised themselves at dinner parties and online. In their aimlessness, they’ve bonded over hate.

Wow. So much respect to Brayden for making this move. This is how badly people want Ford out.

Look, it could have been worse. It could have been hosted by Rex Murphy.

Jane Fonda is 87 years old and still a badass!

Maybe they should just take Cross Country Checkup off the air

I had a great and simultaneously depressing discussion with a terrific friend, colleague and health leader about how the destruction of US health leadership means Canada, UK and Australia are going to be the world leaders on vaccine policy now. Great challenge, great opportunity 🇨🇦🇬🇧🇦🇺

Dear Manager, 1. I drank a whiskey drink. 2. I drank a vodka drink. 3. I drank a lager drink. 4. I drank a cider drink. 5. I sang the songs that remind me of the good times; I sang the songs that remind me of the better times.

Kevin O'Leary to @ianhanomansing.bsky.social on Cross Country Checkup, rough quote: "The Canadian dollar has dropped 40% against the US dollar under Trudeau." Fact check: the CAD has dropped 34% from the 2011 peak, but just 4% of that drop happened under Trudeau. The big drop happened under Harper.

What prompted Hanomansing to become a traitor to Canada? I caught a minute of his show today where that scumbag O'Leary was blathering about Canada becoming a part of the USA in every way but name. Has the CBC decided that this is what they will support. Lost their minds?

CBC can be so embarrassing “Should Canada become the 51st state? Here’s some of the cast of Dragon’s Den”

This whole thing is partially our fault: we sold off our Canadian companies to American interests and let them take over our skyline in the interests of “the economy”

We also haven’t talked about the systematic squashing of human and civil rights and what that means for American influence to Canada. This conversation is just about feelings and only about capitalism

Thank you Simon for writing this important article. Our political leaders must start taking COVID and Long COVID seriously!

One thing Canada can do to fight off the threat of the US is acknowledge the reality of the ongoing pandemic which is making us sicker. Let's squash misinformation, curb the spread, and preserve the health we have. Let's take care of our children, disabled folks, all of us.

From @dickzoutman.bsky.social of the @cancovsoc.bsky.social: “The COVID pandemic has had devastating impacts on Canadians and on the health care system in particular. Our political leaders need to address the impacts that COVID has had and is continuing to have given the pandemic has not ended,”

Since 2018, Ford has cut over $1,500 in education funding per student in #OntEd. Visit this page to find out how what that means for your local school. #onted #onpoli #ontedu #ETFO app.sosha.ai/s/YWFbRr47

Zimiair mask appreciation post. Their new spring series just dropped 🥰 and the spring black will apparently be stocked in smaller sizes next month 🖤

For @thelocal.to I wrote about Doug Ford's record on colleges and universities. Ontario has the lowest funding in the country. Without immediate investment, we are compromising a generation of students, including skilled workers needed to build key housing, transit, infrastructure projects. #onpoli

Forcing workers back into an office at this point is absurd. The Teen Vogue team is one of the only reputable teams left in journalism. Sign for them! actionnetwork.org/petitions/st...

I hear Amazon is changing the rules on books you buy for your Kindle. Apparently you can’t download the books to a device anymore. Do we actually own media anymore or are we just renting? www.ourmidland.com/news/article...

In a small trial, nearly half of pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine had no signs of relapse after three years. Dr. Vinod Balachandran from @mskcancercenter.bsky.social joins us to discuss the results and what they could mean for cancer treatment.

So. It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year. I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.

Thanks to a loud public outcry and a relentless media campaign from outdoors influencers the Trump administration is reversing its plan to eliminate thousands of national parks jobs. Amazing work everyone. Keep speaking up, it matters!

Dougie unwaveringly supports the monster whose stated goal is to destroy our economy and annex our country. This *should* be the end of it, in any rational world. Unfortunately, we no longer live in any kind of rational world.

I’m so tired of disabled people being left behind in almost every way. In education, in economics, in diversity, in equity, I could go on. With things shifting and society uprising, disabled people are usually the last to be thought of. I can’t tell you how traumatizing it is to be abandoned.

I can. In fact, the Canadian version is so great, I can't think of an American equivalent. 🧵

Maybe we just build them faster than Ford can destroy them, and we come out next positive?

When ordered by Nazis to give lists of disabled people by disability severity, some doctors sent back exaggerated data to protect patients from forced work They didn't know that the "most disabled" were to be killed first The moral here isn't to tell the truth It's to never co-operate with Nazis
