Transgender environmental scientist supporting Hudson Valley community requests for useful data and good science. When it comes to clean air and clean water, the local scale is our best hope while national worries more about which bathroom I use....

What would Admiral Adama and the crew of Galactica do?

Trump is openly violating the law on a vast and unprecedented scale and everyone is acting like it's normal. NPR had a long story about finding a rare shrew. NYT said he was disregarding "legal niceties." This is an attack on the Constitution as profound as the attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Sooooo if this whole "biological sex" EO is really happening, biologists are going to make as much noise about it as possible, right? Professional societies, universities, individual research groups? It's really incumbent on us (that's a "biologists us" here) to make a BIG FUCKING STINK

I am going to community science my way through these next 4 years. And take all attacks on transgender folk very, very personally. Which means I may be doing a lot of rage water quality data crunching and/or binge-watching air transport modeling youtubes......

The person who supposedly “assaulted Nancy Mace” was just a foster youth advocate who literally did nothing more than shake her hand. Wow. imprintnews.org/top-stories/...

#agu24 being in DC this year was important. I ended up randomly speaking with someone from the EPA who had survived Trump 1.0 AND then someone from Labor who had done the same. We need to stop clutching pearls and just get on with the democratic experiment. Science is as relevant as we make it.

Too bad there aren't more earth scientists in the DC Capitol Building. Such a small but deeply respectful way to value all people -- even us transfolk -- thank you #agu24 for always having my transgender earth scientist back!

A lot of academics (myself included) are activists. Studying something horrible (you know, like climate change or gender inequality) and wanting to make it less horrible doesn’t mean your work is compromised — it just means you give a shit. Empathy is a key scholarly skill. IMHO.

Why aren't you speaking up to defend the new Congresswoman from Delaware. As the demonstrators chanted yesterday "Democrats grow a spine; TRANS LIVES are on the line". I am having a hard time getting past your silence on this issue. #transrights

boosting the Cisgender Women Against Bathroom Bans petition again, please sign and share if you missed it the first time around! It’s at a little under 8,500 signatures now and we would love to try to get it to 10,000 by the weekend! actionnetwork.org/petitions/no...

Trans folks held a dance party in the Capitol bathroom to protest the bathroom ban on there.

Repost if you agree that CNN should kick dishonest Trump shill Scott Jennings off their network.

the “Elonia Musk” thing rests entirely on “ha ha what if he was a woman” and that is so self-evidently transphobic and misogynistic that I do not understand calling yourself progressive and unironically using it as an insult

@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social can you please, please stop with the pictures of Elon as a woman and feminizing his name as an insult??? It’s extremely misogynistic and it normalizes misgendering. It has actual consequences for some of us. Other trans users should amplify this message as well.

Just had a wonderful interview with a fellow queer at Radio Kingston re: climate, environment, and the importance of local community science as we enter Trump 2.0....https://radiokingston.org/en/broadcast/nature-nuggets/episodes/nature-nuggets-episode-30-urban-ecology-with-prof-elias-deuker

Can we have a conversation about what actions can happen NOW to address rampant transphobia? To stand with trans women while they bravely lead (as usual)? Science is clear that biology has nothing to do with this. Leftists are clear that this is a civil rights fight. Where is the action?????

The NYT is out here letting people misgender their trans teammate in the paper of record while not including any trans voices in the story at all. Just out here amplifying the hate from the bigoted side without doing anything to challenge it. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/28/u...

New definition of "progressive tax" -- when someone triggered by your political signs puts a piece of wood with nails sticking up in your driveway and pops all the left-side tires of your household's cars. Do they know that they have now just made us get all new tires which are safer in snow? Hmmm.

I stood by while heinous attacks on me and my community were ignored by the Democratic machine. And in return I get blamed for their loss? As a trans person may I remind all those who need that reminder (Podsavers, Bulwark, etc.) that protecting my civil rights isn't optional in a true democracy?

the NYTimes & Pod Save the Bullwark pundits want trans ppl to disappear. instead, let's remind Dems that they *need* our votes! here's how:

When Republicans hate on trans people and our rights it is NOT a "distraction." Please be aware that it is a clear projection of what is to come for everyone once they enact their agenda. Not directly responding to trans hate and the denial of our civil rights is a huge political and moral mistake.

This is an abomination. Wonder Woman should kick Mace's butt for this.

It Is Journalism’s Sacred Duty To Endanger The Lives Of As Many Trans People As Possible

@prideinmicro.bsky.social anyone planning to attend AGU 2024 and interested in making some sort of statement at the Capitol re: bathrooms? I am a big bearded transman ready to take a stand for all of the transfolk who work in the Capitol.....
