Anyone justifying national Democrats' current strategy to you is committing massive, possibly world historic political malpractice, including the elected officials themselves.

In Wilmington, California right now for a March and Rally for Immigrant Rights. Here with our immigrant community, friends and our local and state partners to stand with immigrants. We will defend the rights of immigrants and their families against the Trump administration. #HeretoStay

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

One aspect of doing a political purge of the military and civil service is you can't come back in afterwards and just revert to status quo ante policies. A counter-purge becomes a necessity before you can then restore usual norms and protections. The people he's installing can't be left in place.

Oh did the NCAA think fucking over their 10 transgender athletes, by acquiescing to transphobe demands, would appease them?

what the moment calls for is fighters instead of gormless boobs who should have retired 30 years ago. policy differences can be hashed out later, everyone can agree that Musk and Trump must be stopped and democracy restored

It's weird how everyone in the world knows a Nazi salute when we see it, with the notable exception of journalists and their editors.

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

Just so everybody is clear on Republican priorities: We put up an amendment to make sure nobody making over $500 million gets a tax cut. Republicans voted against it.

This is why I keep talking about the last ten years as a metastasizing misinformation crisis. Why on EARTH would you think Trump would do anything thoughtfully or strategically? If the media is giving people this impression, it is lying to them

JFK was 43 when he became president! We don't have to keep electing people in their 70s!

I'm old enough to remember Jim Crow and I find that younger folks often have trouble imagining this very recent part of America's past. That makes it hard for them to have an accurate perspective on where we are now. Hint: We are in a period of reaction from those who LIKED it like that.

It will always be amazing to me that people who (rightly) believe that the existence of Hamas shouldn't mean that Palestinians should suffer under occupation and ethnic cleansing then turn around and say the existence of Azov means Ukraine should live under Russia's boot. Just incredible stuff.

Here's one of the warnings I gave in an article before the US election. It's devastating to see it all happening. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Congrats, you got what you wished for. You’re gonna hate what comes next.

One of the great ironies of tonight: The Soviets were the enemy in 1980 at Lake Placid. In 2025, Miracle becomes a rallying cry against Canada, as great an ally as the U.S. has ever known, as the current administration cozies up to Putin.

Tough situation. Maybe at some point we can amend the Constitution to provide a specific power Congress can use against an executive who’s unlawfully usurping its authority.

Sad to learn of the passing of Paul Carroll. Paul’s leadership and dedication in numerous roles at Phoenix Pride helped shape the organization into what it is today. He was an unwavering torchbearer of the LGBTQ+ movement. Rest in peace.

Quite literally, word for word, a total failure of Article I of the Constitution

Garcia: The fact that the Trump DOJ now wants to silence members of Congress because we’re actually willing to take on Elon Musk is quite dangerous. It’s incredibly disturbing. But we’re not going to be silenced. We’ve got to push back.

i think it is cool that de facto first consul of the united states is a drug-addled maniac and deadbeat dad with a breeding fetish

No single person did more to end democracy and roll back civil rights in America than this white supremacist right here. Now and forever, that is how he should be remembered—the 21st century white supremacist who returned the United States to Jim Crow America.

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.
