Dublin Bay from Dún Laoghaire, many small boats sailing inside the harbour, a white Stena Line ship leaving for Wales, a small cargo ship at anchor, Howth Head in background, at foreground, port structures and monuments, and Teddy's Ice Cream van foreground, red and blue.

Just some fabulous portraits 🥰 (some might not be true to life)

I endorse this thread that says you should regard your computer as if it were a superbly equipped library, with all sorts of desk spaces and practical tools as well as books, other research sources, physical folders etc, and work at it using that mental model.

#4 Kanu 1996 kit - the 196 Atlanta Olympic gold medal kit 🇳🇬 #10 Jay Jay Okocha 1994 kit - the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations Winner and US based 1994 World Cup kit 🇳🇬 Two of the greatest classic kits. I'm ready for the London Nigerian clubs! 🇳🇬 Super Eagles 🇳🇬

sympathetic bronze statuette of a dead youth. "Eyes closed in death, this nude warrior lies on his back, arms and legs hanging limply. The workmanship is superb, with carefully modeled musculature and facial features." Greek c.475 BCE, Getty Villa 📸 Stephen Chappell flic.kr/p/2qMut98

Glengoyne distillery weaning the babies onto Scotch whisky, the natural follow-on food from mother's milk. I filled a bottle to take home, which I'll warm up in a baby bottle warmer

Currency mix is interesting as is so many large English groats, not pennies, alongside gold. Seems to me a savings hoard where you put aside the best coin. Cappercleuch is halfway between Edinburgh and border but not so close as to expect English coin to circulate www.scotsman.com/news/environ...

As kids we used to play in this dilapidated mansion, windows broken, staircase rotten with multi-step gaps. Wild rabid animals inside and remains of arsenic green wallpaper. One of my friends got a sliver of glass embedded in a vein and was hospitalised. Normal kid-life 1970s. Parents never knew.

I like quiet watches, that do not make a big statement, that everyone around me will ignore and yet are beautifully made. Tudor North Greenland Expedition, self-winding. 1954. The oyster case might be only a decade old not seven decades. The dial patina is part of the charm.

New in library - my oldest English language book The Golden Boke Of Marcus Aurelius Emperour And Eloquente Oratour Contains a history of Marcus Aurelius and his views expressed from Meditations and many letters. 1559 print London Thomas Bertelet. Very nice condition, many historiated initials.

A cameo made of glass paste showing a laureate Augustus, the dotted border strongly suggests the model was a coin. www.britishmuseum.org/collection/o.... Glass pastes were a cheaper way to produce products similar to gems, making them more available to a broader population.

This is absolutely obscene.A Monarch and a Dictator drawing lines to carve up Europe and incidentally take the mineral resources, hosted by another Dictatorial Monarch, in a room with no Europeans. It has happened before...

I organise my antiquarians. - in categories, considering in order: 1. Numismatic 2. Ancient world, English language 3. Ancient world, non English, illustrated with woodcuts or etchings - then, per category, by date from 1500 thebookerprizes.com/the-booker-l...

Numismatics at home. A nice view helps. Abafil trays bring out the best in coins.

With my friends this evening at africanlgbti.org Abbey Kiwanuka, first pic, is the founder of the UK, Netherlands and France Out and Proud AfricanLGBTI, long time friend with King Charles III, and has managed the integration of more than one thousand legal immigrants thru Home Office processes.

I have been photographing Roman Republican coins, at home, under daylight, using a Sony alpha 6400 typically at f4 ISO400 which are cloudy day conditions. Coins were distanced from a neutral background allowing the vignette effect. I really know very little about cameras but I know a good coin photo

Two especially nice self-winding Tudors North Greenland Expedition 1952-1954, Rolex assembled ébauche finished in house. Much acclaimed, Rolex under Tudor badge. Lovely age patinated 'tropical' dial. And a 1959 Tudor Date with high level dial & finishing in gold/steel. Original Rolex buckle too.

Happy Valentine's Day 💘 I bought you flowers from an Esso fuel station. £5.50! If you know I already like you then these are for YOU!

Browsing a 1559 translation of Marcus Aurelius: The Golden Boke Of Marcus Aurelius Emperour And Eloquente Oratour and I loved this: Now-a-dates in Italia, they that robbe openly, are called lordes : and they that robbe pryvely are called theves 🤷

An exceptionally pretty 1726 printing of Juvenal's Satyrs, in tan calf & brown leather fine binding with red & gold spine decor and many gorgeous plates. The book cost me less by far than its recent rebinding. When a Book sells for less than the cost of its Cover, all is not well in antiquarianism.

Printed papers from the Vintage Paper Company, all with modern floral prints on 18th century or earlier paper, most with underlying print on both sides. They are intended for crafting and my crafty plan is to decoratively improve antiquarian books with ugly but structurally sound covers.
