We need to ensure that this stays part of the conversation in the days ahead: bit.ly/43mGTrc #EnergySky #GreenSky #MentalHealth

Cool to see the developments in Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems, could balance reliability concerns "Research indicates that off-grid HRES reduce electricity costs by up to 50% compared to diesel-powered microgrids, making them a viable solution for electrifying rural areas"

Posting this preemptively before the quantum hype cycle starts: go.nature.com/41rhJ8n #EnergySky

Molto bello! "With the latest generation of nuclear power, together with renewables, we will be able to achieve the objectives of decarbonization, guaranteeing the country's full energy security," bit.ly/3Xr19nR #EnergySky #GreenSky

I truly believe DeepSeek has forced us to take a step back and consider the efficiency of our AI models “In a world where things are moving so fast . . . you could actually spend a lot of money, doing it the hard way, and then the rest of the field is right on your heels,” bit.ly/41nCpy7

"We're trying to optimize the use of recycled materials, industrial by-products, renewable resources, and alternative sustainable materials in construction while reducing not only physical cost, but labor costs, energy costs, environmental impact costs.." https://bit.ly/4k2iyga #GreenSky #EnergySky

Very cool: "If we made these devices at scale, they could solve two problems at once: removing CO2 from the atmosphere and creating a clean alternative to fossil fuels," https://bit.ly/3X6YLm3 #EnergySky

Really interesting thought exercise "We know there is hydrogen and oxygen present, and the Moon's gravity is far easier to overcome, meaning more of what we produce there can be used to send things deeper into the Solar System."

“Too many organizations try to govern all their data at once, creating elaborate ‘frameworks-on-slides’ that look impressive on paper but won’t last a week in execution," Don't do something you can only do once, make it repeatable.

How can motorsport bring us to Mars? Data. Lots and lots of Data. Very cool read here whether you're an F1 fan or a data nerd (or both like me) https://bit.ly/4gvfDtz #F1 #motorsport #AI

"It is not yet clear whether all the datasets and their documentation that went offline will come back or remain online, and if they do, what changes, if any, will be made." This is extremely troubling, data is so critical to unlocking our full potential as a species.

RE: my post this morning. This graphic is helpful when considering an LLM but critical to look at the hidden costs it notes at the bottom. Energy consumption, carbon impact, and talent. How do we do more with less & right size a model to the problem at hand? #EnergySky

This is a great POV on the state of American Ag. Important to understand the impact on our farms.

Only the start...“DeepSeek did upend the position for massive AI infrastructure spending,” Gartner VP Analyst Joseph Unsworth “But, this innovation will continue to evolve and will take time to play through fully,”..in a race this fast, how do we keep our impact top of mind?

Anyone else want to throw their hat into the AI race? Really hopeful we see the conversation around energy and efficiency take center stage as this heats up. #AI #EnergySky

Let’s all take a DeepSeek breath today…

IMO we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg on this debate. On one hand, great that power hungry datacenters look to renewable sources of power, on the other it has shades of the gilded age with private companies managing such a large share of resources that should be public

I think it's a little pre-mature to call this a "Sputnik moment" but it's "Big-if-true". I'm excited to see this forcing companies to think about efficiency and reducing the resource it takes to train a model, rather that just building bigger and badder AI. #EnergySky

I find the intersection between sustainable strategy and diversity & inclusion fascinating. Really interesting to see the correlation between the presence of female board members and the resilience against adverse climate-related news here: https://bit.ly/4g0sSlA #GreenSky #EnergySky

"Continuing to rely so heavily on lithium-ion batteries as more energy storage is needed for the global transition to sustainable energy will pose security, economic, and geopolitical risks." It's critical that we expand what's possible with battery tech. #EnergySky

Using AI to make AI more efficient - very cool "we included real-time carbon telemetry, which produces information about how much carbon is being emitted by our local grid...By doing this, we saw a nearly 80 percent reduction in carbon emissions over a one- to two-day period"

New study from ICCT finds that CO2 emissions & liquid fuel consumption by the road transport sector are likely to peak in 2025. Big if true! EVs are the tip of the oil-killing spear.

A HUGE loss for F1 and a massive gain for IndyCar. Say what you will about him but Will has such a palpable love for motorsport. This may be the kicker to start shifting more DTS F1 fans to Indy. https://bit.ly/40jslp6 #F1 #IndyCar #Motorsport

Yee haw.

Got a chance to see some of the first EVs in history this weekend at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Boston. Wild to see the amount of progress we've made in a little over 100 years. #GreenSky #EnergySky

In the article I posted about Japan's energy transition, it referenced Ammonia fuels as a potential solution to explore. This sent me down a rabbit hole as I admittedly know little about the tech. Curious what #GreenSky and #EnergySky think? Is this the future or nothing?

“Getting to clean power by 2030 is tough but achievable; it will require unprecedented pace by government, industry and regulators,”

Japan setting ambitious targets in not just decarbonization, but power diversity. "Japan is aiming to avoid relying heavily on one energy source to ensure 'both a stable supply of energy and decarbonization.'" https://bit.ly/3BC0I2j #EnergySky #GreenSky #Nuclear

Climate change impacting our ability to fight climate change, wind droughts could pose challenges in wind gen. "The changes in the frequency and duration of weak and strong wind events pose significant challenges for optimizing energy generation" https://bit.ly/4gyu2pT #EnergySky #GreenSky

"I think [withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord] will be demoralizing for people, but the fact is that the United States will still be making progress. We saw this in 2016 when a lot of these cities and states and counties said, 'Hey, we’re still in'" https://bit.ly/41zi36M #energysky #greensky

Little Friday beach reading, "These findings suggest that AI-human collaboration can accelerate the identification and promotion of business research that drives social change and positive societal outcomes fostered by business"

Good news: if you lab test lithium-ion batteries the way they are actually used in real-world vehicles (lots of stop & start), you find out ... they last about 40% longer than previously estimated! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Interesting article on how remote solar in China is helping to combat desertification #energysky www.carbonbrief.org/explainer-ho...
