The Left Banke. Teen’s Top Ten magazine, December 1967.

The coolest turntable ever made.

Thee Sacred Souls were simply magnificent on Tuesday night in Glasgow, stunning vocals and superb musicianship nailing that deep soul vibe. 🙌 I managed to take no photos, so here’s an original of perhaps their only cover version of the night. 💕 youtu.be/HWf_oB4a8Dk @theesacredsouls.bsky.social

This “Dear Deidre” agony aunt letter pops up every so often. It’s not me, honest. 😳

Radio play victory laps are nothing new I see.

Divine Tune Of The Day! David Crosby "Laughing" (1971) "If I Could Only Remember My Name" is never out my Top Ten - "Laughing" is the jewel in the crown. The harmonies and pedal steel are stunning, but Joni Mitchell's out-of-nowhere vocals slay every single time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyxK...

Repost with a cool song that's two seconds over being under two minutes www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbhe...

Absolutely this. DJ Harvey in Monocle magazine

One of my record collector pal's partner is a keen knitter. And knitters buy tons of wool from charity shops etc. They have a term SABLE (Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy) describing the scenario where you own more wool than you can knit in your lifetime. The same applies to records... 🤓

Tickets on sale at 10am wegottickets.com/f/13606

Divine Tune Of The Day! Honey & the Bees "Love Addict" (1969) Sister funk at its finest - stunning Philadelphia up-tempo group soul. ❤️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IVs...

SAVE THE DATE! Next Divine at Queen's Park Bowling Club is happening on Friday 14th February. Don't worry, nothing too slushy planned... the usual soundtrack of love, misery, despair and heartache! 😍 🎟 Tickets on sale 17/01/25

We're hiring! Do YOU love fulfilling people's record-receiving and listening dreams? Monorail is looking for an online assistant to join the mailorder team, with some shop time too. We're looking for someone 4 days a week. Details & how to apply: https://buff.ly/3C9pjvw

Divine Tune Of The Day! VITAL DISORDERS "Zombie" (1982) If a female-fronted DIY post-punk band covering Fela Kuti didn't already exist, Optimo would have needed to invent it! Superb funk-punk groove out of Norwich - bonus points for having a vocalist named Tina Pilchards. youtu.be/CEpGDhf9Iqc

Etta James & Sugar Pie DeSanto ‘Do I Make Myself Clear’ very much reminds me of zinging about the black and white checkered dance floor of the Vic Bar at GSA on Divine Saturday nights. Good times.

Divine Tune Of The Day! NASHVILLE RHYTHM SECTION "I Can't Go For That" (1981) Country-funk Hall & Oates cover - banjos, pedal steel, harmonica and tight drums. Cheesy but great - sounded ace up loud on Friday night! 🧀 www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJrb...

Had a couple of last minute ticket returns if anyone fancies a boogie tonight! 💃🏻 🎟 LINK: wegottickets.com/sct/Yh4ntKxdzh

That’s my most recent Digging With Divine radio show on Clyde Built Radio uploaded to Souncloud to listen again. 📻 Soundtracks, jazz, deep soul, Broadcast and a wee mini tribute to J Saul Kane… 🙌 Get yer lugs roon’ it! 👂 m.soundcloud.com/clydebuiltra...

Divine Tune Of The Day! JOHNNY JENKINS "I Walk On Guilded Splinters" (1970) Magnificent Dr John cover, which I suspect Beck might have heard at some point - killer drum break, awesome slide guitar, fantastic vocal. ❤️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxYQ...

Happy Launch Day to the 1 of 100 new shop! I’ll be playing some tunes today as part of the celebrations… 🥳

I officially feel old - this Captcha came up on the Royal Mail website and I can't even understand what it's asking??!! 😂

In the run up to the December Divine, I might as well mention my Mixcloud channel - there's nearly 60 DJ sets up there: all my 3-hour lockdown mixes, Industry Of Magic And Light launch, deep soul, library, jazz, Anniversary CD mixes etc. Hours of quality... IMHO. 😍 www.mixcloud.com/andrewdivine/

This is one of the most honest and ego-free interviews about a person's experience of discovering, and then making, music in Glasgow in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Essential reading. strawberryswitchblade.net/jill-bryson-...

Divine Tune Of The Day! Timmy Thomas "Why Can't We Live Together" (1972) Apparently it took just 15 minutes to record, primitive drum-machine, sparse funky keyboard, incredible vocal and a message sadly still more relevant than ever. STONE COLD CLASSIC! www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFU-...

Small mercies. J Saul Kane is number 1 in the Abstract hip-hop chart on Mixcloud right now. He did all the work, I just put the tracks together. Listen here if you haven't already www.mixcloud.com/wrongtom/kan...

Divine Tune Of The Day! “Born To Be With You” Dion DiMucci meets Phil Spector in 1975. 🙌 Found the album in Missing Records yesterday and been enjoying it. youtu.be/3PZ_ySxlSOg
