Someone knocking at your door 5am and murdering you and your family is the absolute essence of the white suburban fearmongering that sold millions of fascist doorbells and justified even more handguns. Seeing some *real* mental gymnastics being done today

For half a decade, right wingers have screamed “the Rubicon has been crossed” over every minor grievance and excruciatingly rare instance where a fascist goon were convicted of a crime. This is an actual Rubicon. The return of Jim Crow political terror unleashed in the name of whiteness.

But the most important thing to remember today is that protestors must remain peaceful, passive, and chaste. Or else it might look bad on breitbart.

is that a totenkopf

Fwiw uranium contamination isn't great, but nowhere near the concern of fission products as produced in a reactor or a bomb. Nasty stuff would've been present in Natanz but nothing like a meltdown. Still, yikes.

Ugh, wow. Can't wait to sign off for a bit and try to enjoy a relaxing weeken-

Truly sucks shit that our democracy is for sale.

Always calm when I'm dusting off an explainer from April 2017 www.popsci.com/nuclear-bunk...

Utterly stunning @oilfieldwitness.bsky.social optical gas imaging video from the site of Musk's massive new fossil power station fuelling the Grok text generation engine on X @nickcunningham.bsky.social's full write-up here - must-read gasoutlook.com/analysis/xai... All this for a crappy chatbot.

"Israelis may well have to spend 'far longer periods in shelters than we were accustomed to until now.'" Spoken as if they have broad national support for another war, and definitely not as if their government narrowly avoided being dissolved THIS MORNING over the strains of the first three

It's like the joke about the good seasons of The Simpsons are still great because America hasn't solved any of its problems since 1990. None of the men who earned stripes being Tough On Iran have faced any consequences since the JCPOA was signed, worked, and then was betrayed. Play the hits, LG

you do not want nuclear policy ppl RTing posts like this

Contamination yikes

Especially so if it's (just) about hitting Natanz. Strategic provocation with no chance at actual prevention

Trying to navigate the last 24 hours like:

So much to analyze but if the Iranian program is indeed at the stage of bomb assembly, assassinating scientists has no chance of stopping it. Really dangerous door to kick down.

Andrew Cuomo is fully unrepentant about his history of sexual harassment. Disqualifying.

FUCK HIM UP

Holy hell. The second half of the video shows FBI agents forcing Senator Padilla to the ground and handcuffing him.

Shout out the independents for once

this all feels like Miller is deliberately escalating because he thinks he can crush the blue cities, like, this week. The people are doing their part to fight but Democratic mayors and governors need to start understanding that they're the targets here

Every predicted consequence of the Indian Point has come true: It's forced energy bills up and increased pollution. And it was entirely driven by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a pretty major decision that has flown under the radar during his mayoral race -- www.lohud.com/story/news/n...

Come to the United States to see your soccer team which just played 300 consecutive days of soccer play the winner of the Oceania Champions League for a trophy we just made up! BTW if you forget your visa at the hotel we will send you to a slave labor camp

RIP to Brian Wilson, who gave us many perfect albums but also the perfect interview

Not exactly "Special Response" if you're pre-positioning to start conflicts at peaceful protests around the country.

[2125] Scholars often wonder why USA 2's Constitution kept the original 3rd Amendment when it was ratified in 2031, but there's an interesting bit of history there. To dig in, first you'll have to recall a city named "Los Angeles" -- that's right Jimmeigh, the same as the great reef!

SecDef says Golden Dome to include: "a space layer w/space-based sensors, and interceptors; an upper layer w/[GMD] next-gen interceptors; an under layer w/upgraded expeditionary effectors..; and a lower-tier layer for cruise and terminal missile defense and other advanced aerial threats."

Is it not mortifyingly embarrassing to be the person working for the Dept of Homeland Security whose job it is to find scary music to overlay on fresh drone video so it can be posted on the propaganda website

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence. They are in charge.

Tulsi Gabbard spent several years attacking Ukraine and arguing that Biden/NATO were recklessly driving us to the brink of nuclear war. You do not "gotta hand it to her."

[Budapest 1956] Wow guys that's not a great optic. If you want to make change everyone can agree with you shouldn't cut up the flag. smh this isn't going to play well in Pravda

Has any bit of "escalate to escalate" tactics made it easier, more effective, or safer for DHS agents to do whatever they were previously intending on doing in any place in the country?

Okay so the Third Amendment jokes are funny obviously but there's also a deeper point, I think: Trump is more alike the exact things the Founding generation were afraid of than anything the country has faced in the interim

Performance on friendly media for the base aside, you can see a scaled version of the sit-down incident with Zelensky. The people in power work each other up, clear a social space for escalating, and go back and forth projecting power. In a room, it's bullying; in the streets, it's fascism.

This is the type of background lore you get after hacking a clacky old terminal in the basement ruins of REPCONN Aerospace or ArcJet or RobCo or whatever.
