What a shock, no way anyone could have seen this coming…

But sure, these guys are the top tech minds in the world or something.

#Niger's national conference recommended that the #military authorities stay for a renewable period of 5 years with possibility for General Tchiani to present himself in future #elections. #AES juntas are there for the long term... www.rtbf.be/article/nige...

There’s no evidence that Dan Caine will not be an effective chairman of the joint chiefs relative to his peers, but it is certainly saying something to the services that we are replacing a highly qualified black man with a white man who literally lacks the command qualifications for the job.

Looks like Trump has fired Gen CQ Brown, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

Setting aside everything else, it’s beyond wild that Patel a)disclosed millions in shares of a major Chinese company almost certainly tied to the government, b) refused to say he’d divest those shares, and c) still got confirmed

I knew Waltz briefly more than a decade ago, and was impressed by how kind and sensible he seemed, even though our politics differed. What an incredible disappointment he’s turned out to be.

18.02 Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 There are reports that JNIM carried out an attack on the village of Largué (Bitou area) this afternoon.

And this isn’t even the number! At best they’ve “saved” only a fraction, in part because they confused $8 million for $8 billion in one case.

18.02 Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 JNIM claim to have taken control of a Security Forces post at Sakou (11kms from Kongoussi) this evening.

It's definitely not great that the president and a number of his appointees/top officials just fully believe Russian propaganda. And that's the *best case* scenario.

At a certain point, it would be helpful for the press to insist (and focus questions exclusively) on Trump or another administration official explaining why, exactly, Doge needs access to sensitive data on all Americans.

Genuinely hilarious claim for Rubio to make.

I would honestly pay money to hear Rogan describe what he believes communism to mean.

a good example of how the world is getting dumber. the new politico playbook writer didn't know who FDR was until a reader told him about that whole "new deal" thing. this newsletter is read by every important person in DC.

“Oh no it was just an exuberant greeting, not a Nazi salute” etc.

There’s been a clear uptick in JNIM attacks across the sahel recently. Both expanding geographically and really targeting key routes and commercial/military nodes.

You cannot determine whether you saved or cost money based solely on one side of the ledger. Example: I saved my household $2K by not paying the mortgage.

It's altogether pretty disturbing how the Times undersells the AfD's Nazi connections here, and also undersells the linkages Musk and Vance have with Nazis/white supremacists: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/w...

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

Articles like this have proliferated, and really do seem to indicate both that a lot of finance types understand neither politics nor business particularly well.

I’m not going to pretend I know how to do political communications and speak to the median voter, but speaking only for myself, it’s incredibly dispiriting how few people in Democratic congressional leadership have shown any indication they understand the severity of this moment, as AOC does here.

This is awful, but also so deeply immature and unserious: x.com/whitehouse/s... our government is run by cruel, internet-addicted children.

A good reminder that Gabbard has been terrible forever, and it was obvious years ago even when people were screaming at the Libs for not trusting her.

This is the thing about the American "postliberal" right: their entire frame of reference is the domestic culture war. Everything, even geopolitics, comes down to it in the end.

A couple of things stand out. Trump’s engagement strategy was aggressive, but also involved people just lying about Trump’s policies. And he also benefitted from his particular superpower of people projecting ideas onto him that are often directly undermined by what Trump actually had said.

in addition to being a contemptible liar and hollow opportunist, jd vance is also just pathetic. only a guy who has fried his brain on social media would even think to say something like this

There are no words for the disgust I have at someone visiting a concentration camp and then promoting the party that is the modern inheritor of the Nazi party.

The thing about Yarvin is that his arguments aren't really "edgy" so much as very dumb

Today, let's pay attention to Mahmoud Dicko's return to Mali. His arrival is expected this afternoon (it might not happen though)

I’m going to go ahead and assume the “DOGE subcommittee found $2.7 in fraudulent Medicare/medicaid payments” is obviously untrue.

I know this is a fool’s errand. But once more I’d like everyone to think about how Republicans in Congress and the political press would have reacted to Joe Biden (or any other Dem president) saying they wanted to cut our defense budget in half in collaboration with Russia and China.

The presence of Dan Na Ambassagou on the list of "republican" armed groups to be reintegrated into the FAMA isn't surprising, but it shows how limited these DDR efforts for ostensibly friendly armed groups is: www.maliweb.net/armee/desarm...

The idea that we can’t match Russia’s navy - which has taken serious losses from Ukraine - is laughable under any circumstances. Hegseth is just lying here.

So many people are going to get sick and so many will die because of this.

At this point, there are only two options: A) Elon is so dishonest that he is willing to peddle obvious lies to score PR points B) Elon really is this stupid

JNIM has attacked this post before, but still not good.
