CBP is detaining german tourist for over 1 mo because they accused her of intending to tattoo for $$ while in US. In jailing her to deport, they held her in solitary for 9 days, also kept her from her return flight Feb 15. She's still jailed. CoreCivic+CBP ⬆️ 💵 www.kpbs.org/news/border-...

Governor? nah. leaving the Senate? yeah good

It's rare disease day, and I'm in San Diego at a symposium this week representing people who have the same rare disease that I do: Alpha-gal Syndrome. AGS is a tick-borne allergy to mammal products. It's one of the few acquired allergies. Here's my story:

Twin Cities Pride & Duluth-Superior Pride have dropped Target as a sponsor for ending DEI. Yet, Denver Pride is going ahead with with Coors (dropped DEI and HRC's corporate accountability). No mention of it from Den Pride/closing comments on all socials. I may be skipping official events this year.

Just 23 days ago, Klobuchar voted to confirm Douglas Collins to lead the VA. Actions > Words.

I spent much of my life at the 19. Probably too much! But I can’t wait to get back for a visit.

We had to cancel our trip to Minnesota's North Shore this summer. Too much instability with the federal gov't and we don't know what our bank account will look like. So I'll reminisce about it with a photo of Whale Lake near Eagle Mountain, and maybe plan for 2026.

‘Very unfortunate news’: Colorado Community Media closes 2 papers: coloradomedia.substack.com/p/very-unfor... What is the future of CCM and the National Trust for Local News?

Mango House, a food hall/mall with vendors who are refugees and call Aurora, CO home. Chicken and rice from Tata & Nono (Sudanese), Nan Gyi Dok at Urban Burma, and Chicken Curry at Nepali Spice. Aurora really has the best food. Everything at Mango House is amazing www.ardasclinic.com/mangohouse.htm

I missed #waterfallwednesday so I guess it's waterfall Thursday! Vermillion Falls in Hastings Minnesota, a 35-foot drop on the Vermillion River. It once powered the state's first grist mill, starting in 1853. The trek to the bottom is a bit treacherous.

I haven't done politics in a long time so what do I know, but it occurred to me that maybe the Democrats are just letting things crumble and letting fascism rise because they think it will be easier to get elected in 2 years and 4 years? Maybe they think it will be a good fundraising opportunity?

I am so glad he is term limited and we get someone new in 2026.

JUST IN: Colorado joins a lawsuit over gender-affirming care and federal funding. An executive order means hospitals that provide such care may lose federal dollars. AG Phil Weiser, now a serial suer of the new administration, calls the E-O "not only illegal, but also cruel."

It's cold and I'm missing being outside looking for bugs. Cheering myself up with this aberrant crescent (Phyciodes). The first image is the typical coloration, and the second is an individual completely devoid of dark pigment. Found at Carlos Avery WMA in MN a couple of years ago. #invertebrates

Folks in #CO08, please get the word out to friends and neighbors on this. Your Republican congressman is not representing your interest.

What's you sign?

what's your sign?

The last few weeks have been a tough one for a contractor (me) who works for nonprofits/government entities. I've lost a few contracts as folks cut programs and spending ahead of turmoil and instability in the federal government. Still have some great clients, but the writing is on the wall...

I'd already stopped shopping there for a variety of reasons including everything I needed locked behind glass as Target bought into the shoplifting moral panic. But they've been on my no-go list for a long time for their waffling on LGBTQ inclusion. Haven't missed shopping there, honestly.

Attention Colorado journalists: Colorado Association of Black Journalists is hosting a free workshop, Know Your Rights, on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the University of Denver. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome. Register here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Snowflakes from this week on Colorado's Front Range. #snowflakes.

Bennet reacts to the U.S. Forest Service — under an Agriculture Secretary whose confirmation he supported this morning, he said, in order to build a "constructive relationship" for Colorado — announcing mass layoffs of critical personnel a few hours later.

Dropped off more snacks and hand warmers for striking workers at King Soopers. Colorado folks: don’t cross the picket line, honk to support, and drop off some goodies if you can! ✊ #DidThisToday

Shorter Bennet: Dems need to play ball in order to win elections in 2 years, so stopping the imminent danger and damage to Coloradans isn't a priority. He thinks these Cabinet picks are going to be nice to Colorado because he was nice to them. Sure, Jan... I mean Michael.

Maybe you should resign, @bennet.senate.gov. We don't need more millionaires who aren't doing squat to stop this.

I'm giving Patreon a try. So, if you are nerdy enough to want to read about humpback whales, 12-sided snowflakes, or the history of lady beetle-human interactions, I'm the one to read. And most of it is completely free (unless you want to buy some art!)

It'll just be a straight-up block from me. No. No no no.

We're finally getting a real winter on Colorado's Front Range, and that means some great flakes, including this 12-sided snowflake. I've seen media reports call these "rare" compared to typical 6-sided, but I've seen more than a few each winter. #snowflakes

#waterfallwednesday Devil's Kettle Falls at Judge Magney State Park is a series of cascades on Minnesota's North Shore. Part of the waterfall disappears into an abyss and until recently, no one was sure where the water went.
