“Ted Carter just kind of made this announcement. And he did it preemptively, before any of it was actually law. And he did it without consulting the people who work in those offices and were going to be losing their jobs. And most importantly, without consulting the students.”

“I did feel, though, that it was a moral responsibility of mine [to resign], because I can’t do work that compromises my integrity as a person. … It’s not always easy to do the right thing, or the thing that you feel is right, but if you take the risk and do it, the universe will have your back.”

“And that’s part of the goal of being a musician, too. It’s about the connection with the world and the humans around me, but then also trying to know myself better. … And some of that stuff can be scary, but that’s a noble way to face a fear, I think, turning it into something you can sing.”

The tiny-home movement has been around for a while – largely co-opted by wealthy faddists who can pay architects to design their treehouses and back-40 cabins. Vista Village is trying to reclaim the concept. New from Brian Williams. matternews.org/community/de...

“I met David [Johansen] the day before we flew to South America to do a whole tour,” Tasjan said of the New York Dolls legend, who died Feb. 28 at age 75, recalling him as a true original “who could never stop himself from being who he was or who he thought he could be.”

“Clubhouse is a weird word, but that’s what we wanted to build, and not in an exclusionary way, like, ‘Oh, this is for you and you’re on the inside of it.’ … It was to create a clubhouse where everyone could get better, and where you could try new things and swing for the fences.”
