OpenAI doesn't deserve its name if it can't be run offline. There's little to nothing that's open source (what the open in OpenAI implies) about a cloud-dependent application. At the end of the day it's just a funnel for US tech to invest in a volatile technology.

I can't decide which is the new worst star trek movie: Nemesis, Into Darkness, or Section 31

If SpaceX and Tesla had any dignity their board would fire Nazi Musk without a second thought.

I decided to break my rule on Twitter where I would never post again, to post this: x.com/andyman12222... (please view it, it's visibility limited for saying cisgender)

Why can't there be a Windows for ARM laptop for $500 or less? I'd like a lightweight tablet running Windows (and by extension WSA). Android's desktop experience has been mediocre at best, but I'm looking for a lightweight note taker and e-reader, not a full productivity laptop which I already have.

Years of academic writing preparation didn't prepare me for the downvotes just for posting a wall of text in a Reddit comment

"Global warming is a hoax" people when their home in LA burns down in a massive fire IN THE WINTER...

Thank you FOSS developers for creating open source enteprise grade software solutions to get my business up and managed well without breaking the bank. Without stuff like Authentik, OpenProject, and now Psono, things would be a lot more messy under the hood at @quantonium.net

Disabled the Horizon news feed on my new quest 3, one step closer to an enjoyable experience without any stupid metaverse bloat. Now I just need to figure out how to unpin the useless apps I disabled and remove all those entries in the library... @meta.bsky.social lol jk why would they use bsky

I never realized how short Linus from LTT was until I got their precision bit screwdriver not long ago. Bit of a small screwdriver...

Proper update pipelines: make patches download quickly and small. Make major updates larger to download, but wrap up previous patches into that big update. It's best to keep the overall disk space used to a minimum, so eliminate redundant files where possible.

Airplane mode needs to stop turning off WiFi and Bluetooth as if it's 2005 and WiFi doesn't exist on flights. Also I want to see better tools on phones to explicitly disable cellular without airplane mode (not disable data; turn the radio off entirely)

I think it's a common misconception that memory cleaning applications don't do anything. Sometimes yes they don't, but for the ones that actually do there's real logic behind clearing page lists- typically not actively used memory which might be used for caching, that programs won't exactly let go.

All these leaks about switch 2, meanwhile Nintendo is probably getting ready to release the Nintendo Toothbrusho or something else stupid

All these drone sightings are really just hiding the fact that the FAA is more incompetent than we thought in enforcing airspace and UAV policies.

Enterprise had a good ending... The Terra Prime arc was very well done, a great way to end with a new (and bittersweet) beginning (These are the Voyages, what's that, bonus content?)

Death of controversial business practice CEO shows just how louder actions speak than words

Working so late on a class assignment I miss the lecture for said class

If you're writing a TV show, either make a 2 part cliffhanger at the end/start of the season, or wrap up the last season's arc. Watching Enterprise, and having watched Agents of SHIELD, this idea of starting the next plot right at the end of the last episode is too stressful and undermines the arc.

Reddit ads for no reason recently: sports replays disguised as irrelevant advertisements I check why I'm weeing this ad, its like "interest in sports". No clue what sort of analytics came up with thst conclusion. If I have to see ads, I want to select the type of ads I srr. No algorithms.

The disastrous launch of MSFS 2024 demonstrates the importance that not everything should be shoved to "the cloud", despite Microsoft's wishes. However the opposite is also an issue- files are getting too large to store reasonably on computers...
