It's weird how if you look up the lifespan of a numer of tree species, how inaccurate the information tends to be. Alder, cottonwood, and big leaf maple are all supposedly very short-lived, but I know of very elderly examples of such trees that are still in great health!

For some reason, heavy metal helps me focus on tasks like nothing else. I find it oddly relaxing, and it helps eliminate distracting thoughts. In particular, I've found thst the music of Australian metalcore band Polaris seems to be most effective for this purpose.

"Mort(E)" is a nearly perfect Sci-Fi story with its unique ant-based apocalyptic setting and cast of murderous mutant humanoid animals. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the sequels (with the exception of the novella "Culdesac"). Best to skip the sequels and view "Mort(E)" as a standalone novel.

This is a really dumb move by ODFW. The result will be fewer permit sales, since a lot of people don't think to purchase permits ahead of time for places like this, & will either not visit or go anyway & risk a ticket if there's nowhere nearby to purchase a permit. www.oregonlive.com/news/2025/02...
