I just recently discovered Randy Feltface and after binge-watching 3 specials over night I must admit, I can't remember last time I laughed so hard. He is absolutely fucking brilliant.

Game Dev 2025

Releasing a demo of your game feels weird and it's truly hard to avoid comparisons, especially when looking at some of the giants out there. Yet, having my game out there gave me joy and it feels fulfilling. The hard work isn't over, but today it feels good :)

Playing Eternal Strands and I'm liking it very much. The entire package just feels very good.

A demo for A Bit Dicey is out there for anybody who wants to try it, available here: andyzaw.itch.io/a-bit-dicey #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiedev #puzzlegame #madewithunity #solodev

This is it. A Bit Dicey is officially a game that's available to the people. It's still only a DEMO, as I'm preparing for the bigger launch soon, but it's there. The game is small and feels a little bit insignificant in the ocean of all the amazing things out there, but I'm really proud of it.

I'm at the last stage of prepping a build and an itch page for a demo build of my puzzle game. I really want to get this out there and see what people think when they play it. It feels both exciting and terrifying.

Leg day is always fun.

This is painfully true.

Looking at the global powers shifting rapidly to the far-right, I feel we are about to experience a new, collective "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" moment and it's gonna be fucking bad.

Started watching Pokemon with our daughter and damn, the original theme song slaps really fucking hard. It's an amazing tune, fantastic lyrics, just hits you right in the feels.

This smells to me like prologue to singing a big money deal with some GenAI company and opening floodgates to the industry for the greedy techbros. I hope I'm wrong but I don't like this.

Started playing Lorcana with my wife during Christmas break. I really like the game so far, matches are not very long which is great for parents. The starting decks seem basic but they have enough depth to keep you hooked. I really missed playing physical card games.

After playing Cascadia a few times since Christmas I must say it's an absolutely incredible game. Like holy hell, the perfect mixture of simplicity and depth, fantastic replayability, quick and approachable. Peak game design.

Starting 2025 with.... Tactical Breach Wizards. holy cow, this game is absolutely astonishing. Great gameplay, and hilarious writing. I adore the vibes and weirdness of the setting. Good start!

Bsky, any recommendations for English flashcards app?

This is disgusting and evil. The level of deceit is reaching new highs.

Watch this.

I recently realized how cynical and defensive I have become last year. World on fire, state of the industry, personal loss. It was a lot and it greatly affected my mental health. I'm tired of all the negative shit everywhere. The plan for 2025 is to regain hopefulness and optimism.

2025 is a year of putting stuff out there. Games, projects, writing. 2024 made sure I would remember it. So I'm planning to do everything I can to make 2025 remember ME instead. It's time to be the "land horse swimming". Wishing you all the same. Happy New Year.

Santa was generous this year. Bookmark is handmade by my amazing wife :)

Work on the puzzle game continues! I hate building tutorials, but I thought I needed something, so I went for something super simple and basic—and I've added this. It still requires some more work, but the game isn't complex enough to require much more. #indiedev #gamedev #puzzlegame

My reaction to a lot of recent AAA announcements: “The art in [insert game name] looks nice... but I also know that [insert company name] is a meat-grinder of a studio with a huge douchebag at the helm, so it's difficult to get excited”

I'm waiting for a game aimed at parents that would name difficulty levels after everyday shit they had to go through. "Oh should I try 'Give your kids their favourite Food for diner', something more challenging like 'Put a Tired Toddler to sleep' or a hardcore 'Potty Training with diarrhea'? "

Me: I REALLY need to rest today. And play some games. Also me: <spends 3 hours fixing Bugs in my hobby game project, going to sleep waaaay too late>

AstroBot winning GOTY is such a great and positive news. It's an absolutely stellar achievement, a one-of-a-kind wonder, 100% deserved. The game is exceptional.

After a week of severe bacterial eye infection I can finally see and get back to regular life. Blurred vision and not being able to focus sight was frightening, 1/10, would NOT recommend. On the positive note though - got back to playing the guitar after months of it gathering dust.

The overwhelming presence of AI tech shoved into every aspect of life feels fucking infuriating and exhausting. It's like mold, growing on everything that's good. The day when it all collapses can't come soon enough.

Great thread.

I think our rush to “this meeting could have been an email” culture has maybe created an inverse: “This heated, multi-day slack thread could have been a collaborative 30 min meeting”.
