We are experiencing an assault on science unparalleled by anything I’ve seen in my life. It’s not one issue or another anymore, the entire institution is under attack by the most powerful individuals in the country. This Friday, where will you be? standupforscience2025.org

My suspicion is that this is a common story across the country right now. We need volunteers and helpers now more than ever. This is a time to get to know your neighbors and build a community. Start a garden, reach out, give your trees names and social media profiles. Inspire children.

Anybody want to punch Nazis with me?

Growth for the sake of growth sounds a lot like actual cancer.

Carl Sagan once wrote in 1995 "I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries;

It was an interesting read of an article. I enjoyed the part about how even in 1883 we were able to document the pulse of air pressure as it rippled along the surface of the planet.

If you haven't started yet now would be a good time to start scrubbing your nazi-platformed social media content. If you don't think it's going to be used against you in the following years then you haven't studied history.

I don't have a picture or anything because I'm just vibin in the moment but I threw some old grapes outside this morning and now there's blue jays seemingly having a really great day. It's doing everything for me right now. Life is gloomy for me and these small moments feel like much needed fuel.

I told this client I wanted to remove all the grass in the front yard and create a work of art using a large component of native plants. We can do so much with plants, accomplish so many functions simultaneously. We're just scratching the surface. It's exciting to think about the possibilities.

The bathroom fan is currently vibrating something in the ceiling at such a pitch and tempo that my brain keeps hearing it as gameboy music. I can concentrate on it and hear exactly what's happening but the second my brain lets go it's sweet delicious chiptunes again.

The forbidden trick or treat... Should I stick my hand in it you think?

2012: “join Twitter? just so I can learn what some moron had for lunch?” 2024: “I’ve joined Bluesky to follow the ‘Good Lunch’ Feed. People post their lunch and others reply good lunch when it’s a good lunch”

Did you know that Canada Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) can be directly attributed to over 30 different plant extinctions outside of its native habitat? Well, this is its native habitat and I'm glad to have it! Got any goldenrod facts to share?

Look hoo I spotted peaking at me in the woods? First time seeing an owl in person let alone a barred owl. This was taken a couple months ago around the Otisville area.

Old but beautiful Grifola Frondosa that sprouted up at the base of a pin oak in my front yard this week. It blends in with the leaves so well by the time we discovered the thing it was already hard as a rock.
