I believe that Trump is showing us why we (the U.K.) need to be a part of the EU and for the EU to look east rather than west for friends and partners.

Here’s an idea: . Align CGT with Income Tax – £12bn/year . Close CGT Loopholes – £2.5-12bn/year . NI on Investment Income – £10.2bn/year . Wealth Tax (1% on £10m+ assets) – £11-22bn/year .VAT on Financial Services – £8.7bn/year . Share Buyback Tax (4% levy) – £0.1-2bn/year #TaxReform #FairTax

I think Starmer and Reeves have killed off any semblance of hope any of us had in U.K. politicians. They are not making things better - they have not moved us on from the Tory years.

Honestly, why would I want to listen to a group of people from outside of the club discussing Liverpool transfers. If it isn’t from the club or an individual from within the club who knows what’s happening, then this is a waste of my time and the BBCs . www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

We need to start referring to the period between 2010 and 2014 as the Tory years. This morning, the news is that Lake Windermere is being cleaned up after pollution during the last few years, it should say, cleaning after the pollution during the Tory Years. Let’s remind people of who are to blame!!

Siege of Sevastopol II anyone? www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

I don’t get it - people are struggling to understand Trump and what he wants. For me it’s clear, it will always be the bottom line, for him first and America after that. Everyone can scramble for the crumbs. Defending Europe is a net cost, he will get rid of that www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

What’s this ‘appears’ lark - say it as it is : www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

I don’t agree. To challenge Farage, you must make people’s lives better. Make them happy about the society they live in which they understand, depends upon taxes, community and immigration. We don’t need a lurch to the right. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Both the church and the monarchy are out of step with who we are as a country. Additionally, we need to replace the unelected HoL with an elected replacement - maybe one with a representative from each of the 382 local councils across the U.K. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

In the day that the BoE governor tells us that one of the reasons for inflation expected to rise is higher heating costs due to a particularly cold winter, we get told that the UK has had the warmest January on record. 🤔 www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Help - I have my favourite no/low alcohol beers 1. Lucky Saint 2. Impossibrew. Does anyone else have any recommendations, sharing where your non-alcoholic tipples can be bought from. Maybe say a little on why it’s your drink of choice.

No - with this country’s media, this government’s big initiatives look small. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

You’re a national news paper - sort out your grammar. @theguardian.com

Listening to Hugh Grant on BBCR4 this morning. Loved what he said. 1. It’s time for the PM to be brave - omg, how many of us are saying that??? 2. The newspapers are just a mouthpiece for their billionaire owners - we know that, but why do we let them influence so much? Well done Mr Grant 👏

Europe generated more energy from wind and solar than from nuclear power last year. We don’t need more nuclear power plants. I would be very happy to have more wind turbines in urban centres to power homes and commerce.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it has been more than 24 hrs since Trump took office. I think that Russia’s illegal war against the Ukraine is still raging.

Wow - just watched Alex Aljoe interview the lille head coach in French and English. Super impressed to have intelligent people like this commentating on Football in this country. #YNWA #liverpoolfc

Today is the day to stay away from the News. Particularly the sycophantic BBC, and the Guardian isn’t much better these days. I’m beginning to feel like an island in an ocean of angry right wing selfish hatred.

It's been quite something to watch supposedly 'patriotic' British newspapers actively cheerleading on a foreign administration that is openly working against our interests.

Get in!!!

Hell is freezing over www.theguardian.com/us-news/live...

The IMF judged that Labour’s increase in investment spending, improved household finances and a series of interest rate cuts by the Bank of England would give the UK economy a lift, after growing by 0.9% in 2024 according to the fund’s expectations. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Listening to Radio 4 this morning. They had the CEO of NEXT on, who explained that the government needed review their threshold changes at which they start paying NI for their employees. Not once did he suggest that NEXT could absorb the change given their increased profits this year!!!

For me, labours’s biggest problem is that it doesn’t know how to rebuff effectively the right wing press (incl @bbcnews). This s true of this government and it was a massive problem for Corbyn. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

So long as this stays as completely anonymised data, I don’t see an issue: Keir Starmer has emphasized the importance of leveraging public sector data, including anonymised NHS data, to train AI models as part of his government’s AI Opportunities plan. Otherwise for me - it’s a no no. It our data

America, you’re slipping. You used to pride yourself on being first. South Korea is the first country to arrest a sitting president. Come on - catch up!! Maybe next week sometime? www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Ffs - www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Listening to BBC Radio 4. Their narrative that the international markets have turned against the U.K. is simply not true. Bone Rates (the cost of borrowing) has gone up for most countries except the U.S. they’ve gone up more for Germany than they have for the U.K. Get you facts right #bbcnews

@twotoads.bsky.social hi Pauline 😎

So that’s 7% of the U.K. population who believe in dictatorship. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Facebook, Instagram and Threads all gone! I was told it won’t even be noticed by Meta. I’m sure it won’t - but it will be if we all do it!! Stand together for a better world. 🌍

Going forward, would you start Danns before starting Nunez?

We’re all in trouble! www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

What has made Mick Lynch a legend isn’t just his determination, but his intelligence. He listens and he answers coherently. He is able to rebut nonsense which is put to him by the right wing media and politicians. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Miso soup for lunch. No spring onions in the coop, so using Leek 🤨

It’s clearly her alt truth 🤣: www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...
