I am interested in how people advocate for a shift away from car-centric infrastructure. I write about design, UX and stories of freedom of movement from a genre and literacy studies foundation.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

When we need to say the obvious things out loud because a South African has decided he knows better than than all of us.

This is some way for the country to thank this man for his service.

A new website created by about a dozen federal employees, called “We the Builders,” aims to be a secure outlet for government workers to share stories about how their workplaces are being impacted by DOGE, and a place to explain the real-world impact of its access to government tech systems.

I don’t always know what to pay attention to, but I do understand that a group of people who are white nationalists are in the midst of their coup, and we’re witnessing the audacity in real time.

Yesterday, driving by the local schools as the line of waiting parents in SUVs started to snake down the hill, and I think about every possible way we could be having more fun / more pleasure / more comfort / more of an attractive experience in our travel.

I take pictures of the ways people use this bike rack because it was purchased and installed before bicyclists explained to the powers that be about how bike racks should be chosen. They listened; the building next door has the preferred option. They also didn’t replace this bike rack.

Freedom of movement begins with the infrastructure in place for travel.

How might we respond to students in compassionate, realistic and en-couraging ways in the face of danger and uncertainty? What do we do when our own grief, despair, confusion, and fear are activated in the room? TEACHING IN THE MESS: For Higher Ed Instructors

A Reddit community created a site that tracks the net worth of #congress Click on any member of Congress and see their net worth, trade disclosures, how their wealth is growing, who’s donated to them, and their proposed legislation. No paywall for most features. Get to know your rep’s wallet.

As Republicans move a budget resolution tonight, it’s important to understand this: they're working on tax breaks for billionaires while slashing health care, education and public safety and doing nothing about the really big problems most Americans are facing, like the rising costs of housing.

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

Making urns for each species in the US – whether endangered, threatened, recovered, or extinct. It’s a journey of 1100 pots, a mix of emotions from overwhelming to inspiring. Yet, there’s a sense of purpose and growth. Sharing ideas, building skills, and making an impact within my community.

I wrote this in 2016 but it feels important now. I've been saying these things a lot lately. Don't refused to mourn together. There is power in our collective grief:

A series of mistakes by DOGE shows just how arbitrary and destructive this slash-and-burn strategy can get.

Oh Gertrude.

Canadian potter Carole Epp's show at Schaller Gallery is charming. I love the delicacy of the foliage, the beautiful negative spaces, and the pop of the skull centers on the flowers. www.schallergallery.com/exhibition/1...

I’m not sure the rest of the country fully grasps the panic and anger building in DC, MD, and VA. The entire economy of this area is about to collapse. Paychecks are stopping. Careers are ruined. Taxes are about to plummet. Yet no one seems able to stop this madness.

Very cool project.
