ATOMIC STEAM! We talk a lot about nuclear steam for industrial processes, well here’s a nice video of how they’re doing it in China. Tianwan NPP’s VVERs are piping steam to a nearby petrochemical processing facility. This is a first of a kind pilot project that started operating in July 2024.

Michael Turton is consistently against nuclear energy in Taiwan. At NT$1.4/kWh, nuclear energy is the cheapest power on the Taiwanese grid in addition to being stable and low-carbon. Life extension will raise costs. Maybe to NT$1.8/kWh. Compare to renewables at NT$5/kWh and up. Puzzling.
