Got a work related scam email today. My favourite part is the sign off: "A kiss" 😂

On the plus side, I've talked to SO MANY AWESOME EDITORS!! Editors are some of the best people on planet. They work so hard to help writers and bring good words to the people. HUG AN EDITOR TODAY (or just subscribe to their magazines).

Many thanks to Wendy for bringing this serious issue to the attention of our editors @utopiascifi.bsky.social !

The UK government providing trans-discriminating guidance its own lawyers say won't stand up to legal scrutiny. "Common sense"!

Just a reminder that we have two lovely surprises: our annual special art issue and our five-year anniversary anthology. Cool, no?

Today I had the ultimate dystopian AI nightmare experience, only with humans: I simply wanted to cancel my Adobe pro subscription and it was scary! The first person I talked to asked me why I wanna cancel, I told them it's none of their business and could they please proceed with my request. 1/2

We're thrilled to announce that our special art issue is coming out in December, with cover art by Don Davis and half the proceeds going to Place2Be, a fantastic children's mental health charity!

The reading period has been extended to fifteen weeks. We advise prose writers to stay relevant to the monthly theme to have the best chance of being featured in an upcoming issue.

We've been hard at work putting together our 5-year anthology. Featuring 50+ favorite stories & poems with introductions from the authors, new art and staff interviews. Publication date: December 1st. Here's the cover. Artwork by multi-Hugo-Award-winning artist Donato Giancola.

Today, I deactivated my Twitter account and I'm feeling very light. I didn't realise how much it bothered me. On a completely unrelated note, here's a picture from our hike today. (Malaga, Andalucía)

In case I haven't mentioned before, our non-fiction editor had the chance to interview one of the founders of SETI. Pretty awesome, if you ask me. Read the interview in our October issue.

Including my chitinous decay poem, "Beetle Crown" 🪲 "their armor lovely greens & violets truer than blooms I wither & watch."

Always nice to start the week with a new story being published. 'Generations' - a creepy tale set onboard a frozen colony starship - available now in Utopia's latest issue! #writingcommunity #writing #scifi

Did you know you can read some of our stories, poems and articles free of charge on Medium? If you like something you've read, please give it a like (the two clapping hands icon in the top left corner). It means a lot to the author and to us at Utopia. utopiasciencefiction.medium.com/about

It's Not Utopian If There Are No Fat People by Jordan Hirsch is out now, featuring poetry that first appeared in Utopia Science Fiction. Get yours today! bottlecap.press/collections/...

Our October/November issue dedicated to First Contact and the fantastic Carl Sagan.

Remember when this man confronted charles the turd: "while we struggle to heat our homes we have to pay for your parade." The turd just turned its back on this man. Easy to disregard suffering when you grow up a sheltered dumb vegetable. End the royal scam! youtu.be/UM_m0OeU3ak?...

Even better, just write it down for me. But if it's not an option, yes, please just repeat the whole thing, don't assume which bit it was I didn't hear.

The unelected PM of the UK being openly transphobic in 2023, sending a clear message: not all British people have equal rights under the tory regime. Also, he seem to feel bullied by trans ppl and their allies? Poor rich boy... This is UK 2023. Please spread. youtu.be/g5kQhhgK6T8?...
