How Donald Trump won the support of working class Americans, while selling out their interests to global plutocrats like Elon Musk bylinetimes.com/2025/01/16/t...

Why are we constantly seeing Emily Sheffield/David Cameron’s sil on #bbcqt and #politicslive? BBC we see you!!!

Yet again in recent months, #Newsnight features #EmilySheffield, sister-in-law of David Cameron and staunch Conservative. It looks as if, like #PoliticsLive, #Kuenssberg and #BBCQT (see below), the show has settled to using the same drearily predictable pundits BBC bookers have on speed-dial.

A tiny 2% wealth tax, on 20k people would raise £24 billion per year to spend on the things that urgently need fixing in our country. We need some tax justice - the more money you have the less tax you pay and vice versa - that’s absurd.

Our tabloid press in the UK are so craven... ...that when a foreign billionaire in a foreign government attacks our national reputation - they make no effort at national defence or balance in reporting, but just eat up and regurgitate the red meat. The British tabloid press is anti-British.

The title is a little flattering(!)… but THIS is why I’m so passionate about the European model of humanity and collaboration. The election of Trump (which happened after we recorded this video) only reinforces what I say here. 👇

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record. They run them bc people react to them the most. If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change. It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Hmm, do I smell musk on that handshake?

"Like many other parts of the world, the UK is in the firm grip of an epidemic of disinformation and misinformation" A good list of origins of the problem - and tools we need to combat it.

Thank you to @hermangrech.bsky.social & the Times of Malta for re-publishing my talk on the threats to freedom of the press & for Malta's leadership in understanding where this leads. The brutal murder of the brilliant investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia is a warning to the world.

🔴The Real ‘Two Tier’ Politics That Enabled Nigel Farage to Fan the Flames of Hate The politics of anti-Muslim and anti-migrant hatred pushed by the Reform leader and his supporters has been tolerated for far too long, argues @adambienkov.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2024/08/08/n...

Okay, let’s get down to business. Wes Streeting’s planning a centralised system for our health data & doctors’ notes. That could bring great benefits. But we can’t risk handing them over to a rogue operator like Palantir. Write to him to demand he rules out their involvement: goodlaw.social/ss1q
