I’m not finished Dragon Age Veilguard yet, but there’s so much to love about it. All the party members are interesting. Easy fast travel. Getting to explore locations and cultures only referenced in other games. Petting the cats. Tipping the street performers. Having a fat Rook.

Depressed random midnight thoughts: if there was Universal Basic Income, would employers fight to keep us rather than the other way around?

I was a writer at BioWare for 5 years (2011-2016). I leaned a lot during that time from exceptional folx in many disciplines, but also specifically from my fellow writers & our amazing editors, on both the ME & DA brands. Today, not a single one of those writers & editors remains employed there.

Can BioWare even EXIST without the Weekes?!

Watching the legendary game writers who inspired me to join the industry be let down, again and again, by that same industry, is fucking infuriating.

Finally saw “Wicked” and can confirm that it RULED.

every new restaurant in every major city is either called Thistle+Thorn and thinks adding turmeric to brussel sprouts makes them worth $30 or is called Burger Bitch and has a neon sign in the window that says “im gonna fuck a hamburger”

Writer vs artist? Nah man, creatives vs execs lol

A personally-learned lesson for all cat owners during the holidays — a gift ribbon can easily become a 3000€ vet bill if your cat gets a hold of it. “Linear foreign objects” also don’t show up on x-rays until they start messing up your cat’s insides. Dispose of your ribbons! And get pet insurance!

Re-watched “A Mighty Wind” yesterday. One of my fave Christopher Guest movies, but I do wonder what Guest thinks now about the surprise trans joke at the end considering he has a trans daughter.

Back in Canada for the first time in a year, I can finally partake in the food of my people: A&W root beer, Kraft Dinner, Boston Pizza’s perogi pizza, and chocolate covered Ritz crackers

“Holy infant so tender and mild” will never not be funny, don’t write lyrics when you’re hungry.

@derekfrench.bsky.social long time no chat! How’s it going at Beamdog?

I keep forgetting Blue Sky exists!!! But I’m here, I’m alive, I write games, and love my cats

Gosh darn if John ScaIzi isn’t the one of the most reliably entertaining sci fi authors out there

I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and wasn’t sure if was it bc the books I was reading were dull or if my depression was sucking the joy out of them. Then I picked up a John Scalzi book. Thank god those books were just dull and I still enjoy reading 🤣

The Scottish wildcat is absolutely, 100% fed up with your bullshit.

Finally saw “The Lion in Winter” a few nights ago. NOBODY warned me how incandescently hot Timothy Dalton is in that movie, holy shit

These pics are now going to be my automatic reaction to shady shit. BOMBASTIC side eye. CRIMINAL OFFENSIVE side eye

I’m rewatching Kiki’s Delivery Service for the first time in forever and am kicking myself for not watching it during my first few months as an expat. I empathize w Kiki on a whole new level

Still not sure what to post so here’s another cat pic

Still getting used to and finding ppl on Bluesky — here’s a cat pic!
