Even photos of cabbage leaves looked like movie stars in the 1920s and 30s. #photography

Children Of Men. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón. Director of Photography, Emmanuel Lubezki. A work of art. Aside from a brilliant adaptation of the dystopian novel by PD James, Cuarón utilises symbolism through art and cultural references, that transcends traditional cinema. I loved teaching it.

Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this. Smashed records. Curtesy of Garrett Roberts.

Multiple uses for this as a metaphor.

A periodic reminder that if you can't afford a book the library does buy books, and sometimes we even buy hundreds of copies of one book. Checking out books from your local library supports authors, which means they get paid and can write more great books!

In sci-fi, tv especially, an alternate reality is often a storyline. It's usually quite dystopian and the good characters are flipped, making them nasty or meak. I've realised we're the shit reality.

Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released 42 years ago (yesterday). It was the very first film I saw at the cinema, when I was 3 or 4. It's also my oldest memory: crying as I left the theater. In fact, I'm still crying. 😅

The Finnish word for the northern lights is “revontulet”, meaning “fire fox.” The legend is the arctic fox runs so fast across the mountaintops that its tail sweeps sparks and snowflakes up into the sky.

It's apparently national Cat Lady Day, so I hope all you cat ladies have a wonderful day! Here's my favorite cat lady from my collection. She just looks so fed up with everyone and everything except the precious potato babby.
