I am hopeful that one day I will get a contact from the company, and possibly some compensation. If I don't hear back by the end of next week I shall ask for a refund for the sofa and still something back for the £799 mouldy armchair.

I will not be buying any furniture from John Lewis again, and cannot recommend them to anyone.

Nobody from John Lewis can tell me what is happening, or what can be done about the musty smelling armchair, a month after that arrived seemingly brand new.
Honestly were there an option of giving fewer than one star I would have given zero.

To date (25th Feb, 14 weeks 3 days after the order was placed), I have still not had a delivery slot confirmed and not even heard back.
An update about the armchair; it still smells mouldy and so now does the whole living room; I feel a bit sick when I go in there.

By now I've lost track of how many times I've chased. I was finally told via a voicemail on Monday 17th Feb that the sofa would be definitely arriving on the following Friday and that I would get a call to arrange the delivery slot.

My daughter went to stay at her friend's house to free up her double bed for our guests.
The following Monday I had still not heard back so I called the helpline. I was told the sofa was not in fact in the warehouse and that it definitely would be by the following week.

I was then told that the sofa was in the warehouse and that the person who told me it would be delivered should not have arranged that so soon after its arrival as they would not have had time to check it. I was told I would hear from them soon.

I got 3 SMS messages to confirm the delivery slot.
Rather than go out for a walk with our guests we waited in for the delivery because we needed the sofa. At 4.40 nothing had come so I called the helpline.

I chased it up in late January as I hadn't heard for a while, and we had arranged for guests to stay on the sofa on 8th Feb (the 12 week mark).
I was told on the phone that the chair and sofa were due to arrive in the JL warehouse on 7th Feb so they arranged delivery for 8th, 2.30-4.30pm.

A call came on the morning of 25th Jan to say that they couldn't find the sofa but would deliver the armchair.
The chair arrived. It smelled a bit musty but seemed otherwise fine. I assumed that would wear off and might have been from the lorry. I was assured I would hear soon about the sofa.

We got fortnightly update emails for a while saying it was all going OK with the delivery and we would hear soon.
22nd Jan I got a SMS saying the delivery would come on 25th Jan, so I cancelled my plans for that day and waited in.

Hello, it's great to see you on here!
I'm still finding my feet but @squeezyjohn.bsky.social has done a really good starter folk list.

It was so good, and allowed me to hear you twice in the same tour which I can hardly ever do! I really appreciated the camera work, what a outstanding new team Cat et al have recruited, it was great to see the work done up close. The sound mixing was excellent.

As a cyclist on the streets, I'm increasingly noticing that Teslas are replacing BMWs as the vehicle most likely to cut me up in the rush hour. Sign of entitlement.

Send me the list of tunes you know and I can get learning/ making some cello parts....? I've recently been inspired by Toby Kuhn.

OK so can you buy me the digger and pay the insurance and then give me a fee every time I save you more money than the fee would have been, by using it? Then more efficient holes would be dug and I can employ more digger operators with the fees, rather than them have to go dig holes abroad.
comment in response to

Ha, yes, and we should pay for that out of our own pockets, and also pay for our own training to use it. Then when we are used to that, we get given 10x as many holes to dig, also with no extra funding. 😜
