Tino pai Wellington Libraries! If only our government would embrace such thinking rather than trying to undermine progress made. If anything though they have made many of us step up a notch in support of Te Tiriti and kaupapa Māori. www.rnz.co.nz/news/te-manu...

Well said @timquaker.bsky.social , I hadn’t heard of Youth Demand before either but I won’t be forgetting it. Whilst I’m pleased it has brought many (back) to Meetings and raised awareness of our existence, I don’t think it’s an outreach strategy to encourage. wagingnonviolence.org/2025/04/quak...

Fonterra markets its Anchor butter as ‘grass-fed’, but it's a deception. Fonterra dairy cows are fed almost two million tonnes of palm kernel imported from Southeast Asia every year. #TooManyCows

It appears that even JRM is on the right side sometimes; what strange times we live in… not that Quakers consider their buildings sacred, but if the police will do this to a premises of a historic peace church where would they draw the line?

This is despicable. More war crimes stacked up by the Zionists. How anyone can think that this is okay baffles me. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

And now for some good news… A beautiful thing to see indeed 😊

A tiny Australian outpost gets steep Trump tariff despite few exports, plus two territories with a population of 0 🤦🏽‍♀️ Someone didn’t do their homework and apparently copied a list of the top domain names rather than economic partners, & didn’t understand ‘trade deficit’ www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/5...

Hmmmm… if that many businesses are not paying tax because they aren’t making enough profits, it rather under cuts the government claims of a healthy economy surely? www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines...

People talking and peacefully demonstrating is not a threat to society; but stopping them is. www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...

Loving the fact that this armed break in by the Met Police to Westminster Quaker Meeting House has increased public interest in Youth Demand who were targeted. A well written commentary on the incident.

If the police are expecting this to intimidate and stop the protests I suspect they’ll be disappointed. There is no excuse for such a heavy handed response. It’ll result in a level of distrust in the police not seen since the 80s/90s.

Disgraceful. To see this happening in the UK is scary stuff; a legacy from the latest Tory era that Labour has yet (?) to undo. I’ll not be holding my breath for change though as Starmer’s Labour is even more right wing than Blair’s, & that’s saying something 🥵 www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...

Says it all really, doesn’t it. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Well knock me down with a feather, fact checking Winston Peters on climate accord shows that he either doesn’t know or is deliberately spreading falsehoods. Neither is a good look. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

A sign of a guilty conscience? Or at least on behalf of the industries at fault. Luxon can’t have it both ways.

I’m always glad to be living here, but our Covid response increased that feeling tenfold, especially as friends and their loved ones died of it overseas.

Of course my immediate reaction was ‘because so many NYFSGs & YFHSs were held at the boarding school next door’, but no, it’s nothing so positive…

Thank goodness someone here is speaking up for Gaza www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Gut wrenching news www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/5...

How our global friends can help us in the fight against Trump's regime: robertreich.substack.com/p/how-our-gl...

He keeps using that word, but I do not think it means what he thinks it means… ‘demonstrably’ requires more than hearsay, it requires data 🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m torn between horror at the amount of space junk being created, and gratefulness for the vast improvements in connectivity communication satellites provide here in a country with vast swathes of slim to nil cellphone and poor internet coverage. But there’s no excuse for bright LED billboards etc

Despicable. For a government who see economic growth as the be all and end all, failing to see that workers having adequate funds to live, ie spend, is short sighted to say the least. You increase a low paid worker’s pay, it mostly goes straight back into the economy. Not to some untaxed haven.

I wish this were more widespread, it would be perfect for rural towns like ours with market gardening all around us. www.bbc.com/future/artic...

“If… a person who could not speak French or German took it upon themselves to instruct the people of that country about the basic principles of an important constitutional document written in French or German that they could not even read, they would be regarded as a lunatic, or a fool.”

From the University of Auckland – Comment: There are three main threads in the anti-democratic movement in the US: the greed of the super-rich, white supremacy, and hostility towards regulation, argues Neal Curtis
