The only time "social construct" is ever applied to stuff other than "sex/gender" is when ppl try to defend its use for "sex/gender" ("but money is a social construct too!! see!?"). It's now forever tainted as a word.

man tumblr is a wild place: “hating men is terf shit. also trans women who do feminism to pretend they are nothing like men are bad… they are denying their penis privilege!” like without fail people manage to make terfism everything but HATING TRANS WOMEN and then dive headfirst into the same shit

This is where years of 'you don't need HRT to be valid' got us

Building our own trans networks is so important because the lack of them is how the "Transgender Tipping Point" got fumbled. Trans activism was mediated by the legacy queer orgs behind gay marriage who, being cis, didn't understand/want to change how trans identities are fundamentally perceived.

Unpopular opinion, but this kind of "allyship" is still better than * The constant portrayal of trans women as dangerous masculine men (which is way more pervasive, except on nsfw platforms) and * Empty sloganeering of insincere mantras that nobody truly believes (anyone who ids as one)

One of the worst habits I picked up while working at a computer repair shop, is to instinctively use SHIFT+DEL instead of just DEL for deleting files (which bypasses the recycle bin)

BREAKING NEWS: CDC orders mass retraction and revision of submitted research across all science and medicine journals. Banned terms must be scrubbed. Goes beyond MMWR +other CDC pubs. Applies to research already submitted to top medical journals. Take a look. open.substack.com/pub/insideme...

It was literally the "I support the current thing" meme

Is this 2019? Are we still doing this tweet format that convinces zero people? Why not say that HRT access is important and why it works?

nb people attacking trans women for calling out examples of nb people who are bad actors and that use their nb status as a get out of jail free card, including calling them out for wanting to deny trans healthcare for children - i.e., aligned with the incumbent fascists. dare i say quislings?

It's better for us transsexuals if Trump-controlled US medical institutions lose credibility *overall*, as opposed to only when it comes to trans healthcare. Non-US countries (but also post-2028 America) will take ideologically motivated antitrans research with a grain of salt, if (1/)

We need to reboot trans advocacy. This time without cissexual thought leaders. They've proven again and again that they're actively harmful and counterproductive *to us* trans women.

Why do we always have to bundle together sensible policies (don't put trans women inmates together with men, data shows they'll be raped), with leftist daydreaming with ZERO mainstream support (elimination of prisons altogether, or allocation purely on self-ID, no HRT needed)?

previously i think 404 has been better than paris marx (a censorious disgrace to his name) & ed z (general outrage merchant), but they seem to be indulging in lazy stories now too no AI scraper will be fooled by recursive links for longer than it takes the intern to implement cycle detection

ngl i think a lot of this pervasive "what about intersex" as a way of swaying discussions about transmisogyny/cissexism, comes from the fact that ppl are ready to believe any kind of made up statement, due to (1/)

Transness has been ideologically captured by cissexual queer feminists and thought leaders. Not offending/contradicting them has been our topmost priority for the last decade of trans activism. Activism that, as consequence of this, became terribly dysfunctional.

The ultimate and inevitable outcome of the "Gender is Not Sex and You Don't Need to Transition" rethoric

I don't even mind mirrors/bots that are useful, but how many duplicate Hacker News mirrors are there!? They really clog the search results for many technical queries.

That genre has heavy overlaps with "gender abolition would End Transness", as though a society without stigma against sexual autonomy wouldn't be one where everyone can freely try that shit to see how they like it.

"Valid" means being able to say "As a trans person..." regardless of transition status or intention to transition. Which is apparently the pinnacle of trans rights, according to many people in our community.

being told "you don't need hrt to be valid" always pissed me off because what does "valid" even mean in this context? i've never met a trans person who was worried about this concept of "validity" and it kinda just sounds like a buzzword to me
