I've always said I'm a PhD student - in my 5th part-time year currently. But I note on my Uni website I'm a "Doctoral Researcher", which sounds grand and possibly more in keeping with my advanced years. What do you call yourself?

Shocking that prosecution is even considered in thd circumstances

This statement about the transphobic Supreme Court ruling by the UK's Crab Museum (yes a museum about crabs) is better than 99% of the statements I've seen on the topic www.crabmuseum.org/visit 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

I've shocked myself and written 1,000 words today. They may not be good words, or the correct words but they are down there! Ably assisted by the #PhDachshund himself, Mr Twiglet❤️

I was interviewed by @jessicaabrahams.bsky.social for @prospectmagazine.co.uk about death positivity, the subject of my research. You can read it here www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/a-good...

Oh, excitement! my copy of the book, Death and Institutions, arrived today! My chapter on the Death Positive Movement in inside 😊- first proper publication! #phdlife

Delighted to say that I have a chapter in the edited collection Death and Institutions, published today! The chapter (and my research) examines the Death Positivity Movement. Many thanks to the editors and more details here: www.bath.ac.uk/announcement...

Higher education is already in crisis. We're looking at mass job losses and a future with fewer institutions, fewer students, fewer researchers. The death of British universities will deskill the labour market and strangle innovation. So how does this square with the Government's growth priority?

Don't forget tomorrow's post grad researchers Zoom, 6pm, if you're studying anything related to #death or #dying, #grief or #bereavement. Details below, join us!

Very proud to be a contributer to this edited collection. The Death and Institutions book is featured on the excellent Death Studies podcast this month, and you get to hear a little intro from all the authors. Including from me and my Birmingham accent!! thedeathstudiespodcast.com/death-and-in...

This is so important. I spent my childhood visiting a library, and worked in one for ten years when I left school. We can't let them go.

Without these things, we have nothing.

I'm giving a talk tonight - 'Weeds, Wakes and Water: a history of funeral traditions in the West'. I'm also having a heat pump installed at my house so I'm living in the caravan with my dogs. No hot water till next week they say....good job my friend lives close otherwise I'd be grubby tonight!

If you study #death, #dying or anything connected, join us on Thursday at 9am for an informal chat! 👇🏻

I've been reading this superb book - Wifedom by Anna Funder. It's the story of George Orwell's wife - part bio, partly an exposition of how women subjugate themselves for their husbands. I urge you to read it, it is so good. And I wasn't a fan of Orwell before I started it, certainly not now.

Happy Love your Yew Week! 🌳 @caringforgodsacre.bsky.social have launched a brand new week to celebrate our yew trees in churchyards! Here's one I visited today at St Mary's Church Nolton, Bridgend. www.caringforgodsacre.org.uk/love-your-ye...

Did you know we have a map you can use to find your nearest ancient yew? It's linked on our website for Love Your Yew Week: www.caringforgodsacre.org.uk/love-your-ye...
