We’re excited to announce the launch of new research priorities for palliative and end of life care! These have been created in a project with the JLA and other partner organisations, including co-funders the ESRC and @mndassoc.bsky.social, and guided by people affected by a life limiting illness.

You can also now download and read our report, "'To Know Dying' Identifying research areas in palliative and end of life care for the social sciences and humanities" healthopenresearch.org/documents/7-1 @ericaborgstrom.bsky.social @brionyhudson.bsky.social @marigreenfield.bsky.social

BLUESKY MEGA-THREAD Altmetric is thrilled and also LITERALLY RELIEVED to officially announce: We are now tracking research attention as it happens on Bluesky! We have been picking up posts on the site since late Oct. Our team is on Bluesky all day answering questions. Let's get into it!

Loving this new paper on complexity in medicine, using pediatrics as the worked example. Too many medical authors (and the MRC) run fast and loose with the terms 'complexity' and 'complex interventions'. They should read this paper. #medsky #academicsky #philsci 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Dear @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social You said that part of the reason you couldn’t vote for the AD bill was the lack of adequate palliative care in the UK. You are the health secretary. Will you now pledge publicly & immediately to fix that? Or are dying people not enough of a priority?

Thanks @lbc.co.uk for having me on to discuss AD. Both Keir Starmer & Wes Streeting know full well how grossly underfunded UK palliative care is - & they have the power to change that. But will they? Or will they turn their backs on dying people? www.lbc.co.uk/news/palliat...

Around 600,000 people who die in the UK each year could benefit from palliative care. Palliative care needs to be state funded, as it is now in the Republic of Ireland. @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social bmcpalliatcare.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.... (See estimates of need - Tables 3+4)

Palliative Care Doctor, Dr Rachel Clarke, "There are thousands of people suffering unnecessary pain" "We may be in a peculiar position where we have a state funded dying service but we don't have a state funded palliative care service"

Really important super short survey to capture the UK palliative care research capacity. Please consider completing this if you work in UK #palliativecare or #endoflifecare.

Delighted to have contributed to this investigation into hospice and end of life care, and the huge challenges faced by the sector. It couldn’t be more timely. Keeping Care Alive: Hospices in Crisis? will air on ITV, 8:30pm, Thursday 28th November
