Opposition and support for abortion is more nuanced than Republicans vs. Democrats. We've consistently seen very Republican states vote to maintain or expand access to reproductive rights.

I resent the bad actors of this era for forcing me to live in a nightmarish reality where I have to make phone calls.

HOW DID IT GET THAT WAY, MARCO?! You don't even have to pick up a book. There are bunches of tv shows, documentaries, movies that have covered this. It's not a secret.

My representative. 🤦🏻‍♀️

"More majestic" WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN???

He knows of which he speaks.

It’s too much for my brain to handle to have both a president and a vice president who seem hell bent on just posting through it.

Look, I can do two things at once. Pitchers and catchers report in less than a week!

Are you feeling lost? Like hope is gone? But you must go on And come to the next session of JAWS tomorrow, February 5, at 3PM! Join us for two exciting papers on political behavior by @alicemalmberg.bsky.social and @llopez.bsky.social Register here: american.zoom.us/meeting/regi...

This reminds me of my 5 year old niece who calls anything she doesn't like "unappropriate."

Wait. Did RFK Jr just say Medicaid is fully paid for by the federal government? Even the student who pays the least attention in my health policy class knows this isn't true.

Damn, I was not expecting @bennet.senate.gov to bring such fire to this hearing.

Took a page out of @reuning.bsky.social’s book and called my representatives expressing my outrage at the way the Trump administration is treating federally-funded research.

I hope everyone is ok, in Trump-adjusted terms. Last few days have been more exhausting than usual for me and I’m sure many of you. Rest if you can. Eat a piece of fruit. Have some water. Move your body. Love someone. Donate something you don’t need anymore. Smile at a stranger. Read a poem.

Last night I was at a dinner with a bunch of Catholic faculty and staff (and @reuning.bsky.social, just for fun). Someone asked me how political science was doing, and I had no idea how to respond. Like, the discipline? How are we doing? Uh.... not great.

“This, if it’s true, will be a disgrace, because it will make poor unfortunates who have nothing foot the bill for [global] imbalances," Francis said Sunday. "That doesn't work. You don’t solve things that way" @anthonyfaiola.bsky.social @stefanopitrelli.bsky.social report from Rome wapo.st/40qNkq4

Anyone want to talk to an AP reporter about America becoming an oligarchy? I got asked and I am not qualified.

"You don't need to have legal papers or be a U.S. citizen to help others," he says. "When you support someone, you strengthen them." When I heard this @npr.org story I got so mad thinking about all the things the incoming administration has said about immigrants. www.npr.org/2025/01/10/n...

For all the talk about personalized algorithms, Kevin and I get the same content in our social media feeds. And because I'm online less than he is, this means every piece of "news" I bring to him is something he's already commented on.

She's not a fan of the new reading I picked out for my policy evaluation class.

Hello undergraduates! Pew Research Center is now accepting applications for our paid summer internship program in Washington, DC. Our full list of internships is here: pewtrusts.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/Center... Applications are due Feb. 7.

In this case, Satan was his wife sending him the article two hours later.

He was more excited by this than any gift he received for Christmas.

If you see anyone talking about how the Amazon strike could disrupt the flow of packages:

BREAKING: The biggest strike against Amazon in U.S. history is happening right now. The Teamsters are picketing facilities across the country. The union has organized workers at 10 Amazon locations AND they're putting up picket lines at hundreds of other Amazon sites nationwide.

There have been 63 ballot initiatives on abortion in the US since 1970. 10 of those have been in Colorado. It's kind of weird, and that's why I wrote about it for @us.theconversation.com: theconversation.com/colorado-now...

Are you the type of professor who anxiously awaits the release of course evals so you can obsess over them the minute they're available or do you never look at them? I'm pretty sure there's no in between. (I'm the first.)

Miami's lead negotiator who has delayed our negotiations for months and months was just indicted as part of a scheme to illegally operate bars in Cuyahoga County. www.oxfreepress.com/lawyer-leadi...

When we were getting harassed by an anti-union troll a few years ago, they said Kevin and I should be grateful to Miami (and therefore shouldn't want equity and fair pay??) for giving us a spousal hire. I will never let go of that. Mainly because of how ignorant it is to how much of academia works.
