Early this morning, an autonomous group of New Yorkers reclaimed an F train car, replacing ads with signage reading “A MAN WAS LYNCHED HERE” and Jordan Neely’s name, as a jury deliberates over whether to convict Daniel Penny, Neely’s killer, with his death last May.

I say again - there are few things in American society that will radicalize you more, or faster, than being suddenly disabled in your 20s with a condition that no doctor wants to treat or touch or interact with, and leaves you in pain every second of every day. It is a cooker beyond belief.

Oh my GOD: I asked one of the Dems who replied, Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois, if he'd support a vote to censure Walberg. His response? "We need to stop talking about censures and focus on governing.”

imagine letting the guy that can’t properly make a hubcap put a chip in your brain

"A new study on public attitudes toward abortion laws finds that the more people know about pregnancy, the more likely they are to oppose legislation that limits women’s access to abortions – regardless of political ideology"

Time to start FINALLY pushing back! www.ama-assn.org/delivering-c...

I did a full write-through of my report on Alabama's plans to use nitrogen gas to kill Kenneth Eugene Smith on Thursday in order to provide as much clarity as possible on where things stand. Please read and share: www.lawdork.com/p/alabama-ni...

A NH voter on CNN just said he voted for Trump because Haley was too negative and that Trump “has left the language of vengeance behind.” Please tell me exactly how I’m supposed to start a rational conversation with someone who is experiencing an entirely separate reality. I’m all ears.

There's a post-Roe edge to abortion politics that is about more than hating women — it’s about the belief that abortions are fundamentally emasculating to the men who finally achieved their rightful domination, only to have the thrill of subjugation challenged again and again at the ballot box.

I wrote for Newsweek about my experience miscarrying in Texas after Dobbs. Democratic erosion and authoritarianism aren’t abstractions happening elsewhere—my story & that of countless other women are reminders that they happen every day in Texas & in other states. Polisky Gendersky Academicsky

1) THIS asshole 2) conservative fuckfaces have such a long and illustrious history of appointing people who are not qualified to jobs they should not be doing and it's transparently obvious that they just think those jobs shouldn't exist at all

A Texas school district superintendent defended the continued suspension of a Black student over his locs in a full-page newspaper ad “Being an American requires conformity with the positive benefit of unity"

I went 6 years without a mammogram because the BCBS database kept telling me there weren't any covered providers. In Seattle. 🤦‍♀️

In the US, we are now up to over 2,000 COVID deaths a week and rising (likely an undercount).

not to be rude but i'm starting to think that short form social media isn't right for some of you if you can't handle seeing a post that isn't accompanied by a full sociopolitical analysis and history of the topic at hand when the topic is like. littering is bad. there's a character limit on here

cool cool cool i’m just thinking of every issue the nyt called people who are still masking histrionic fearmongering trauma addicts who are only doing it for attention

After the talk about the author's derailed prize ceremony, this interview turns to a more general discussion of how fake antisemitism is being used as a weapon of the far right. youtu.be/NtSD2Y5g5OM?...

Them: Are you wearing a mask because you're recuperating from covid? Me:

Social media can be a cruel place. Amidst all the muck, there are glimmers of hope. I wrote about disabled outrage and a recent hashtag I created on Twitter #PodSaveJon disabilityvisibilityproject.com/2024/01/02/d...

Something that I did not predict at the start of the pandemic: One of the biggest heroes would be 💩. Kudos for wastewater monitoring!

but that's literally what the statute says. i'm going to lose my fucking mind

This is what inspirobot.me gave me to head into 2024 with. Really not helpful, thanks.

Now that we have embedded video here, I decided to be the one to start this round:

Dear retailers: if I click on your website out of the link in the email newsletter that I subscribed to, you can skip the giant screen-covering popup exhorting me to sign up for your newsletter

A big reason why it matters that reactionary centrists and anti-“woke” liberals constantly launder rightwing crusades (against “CRT,” or “DEI,” or “postcolonialism”) is that it completely neutralizes the mainstream response to a blatantly anti-democratic, anti-egalitarian move like this.

I am struck by the fact that, if we follow the line back through the dozens of people who are allowed a say in whether Kate Cox gets a life-saving abortion, nine of them are GOP judges, many are lawyers, and the rest are anti-abortion Texas politicians and none of them are Kate Cox or her doctors
