It is shocking indeed, and we did not realize the extent of this when mapping the digital traces of this misinformation backlash (link to our study). www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Out of 55.2m UK adults 17.8m have annual income of less than £12,570. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. FOUR Britons have more than 20m people combined. Failure of economic/political policy. Govts still squeeze the poor. Good society can't be built on economic injustice.

Nationalisation is on the table for British Steel In 2020, Keir Starmer promised public ownership of rail, mail, energy and water as well as ending outsourcing in our NHS and local government 💧⚡️🚄📮🏥 PUBLIC SERVICES are also national strategic assets www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

UK Parliament recalled tomorrow for emergency debate on the future of British Steel. Must be permanent nationalisation, not temporary where public purse nurses the company and it is then sold to private sector. Need industrial strategy: Can't rescue steel/others without controlling energy costs.

A study in Nature Communications shows that hidden water beneath Antarctica’s ice can accelerate ice loss, potentially raising sea levels by over two meters by 2300. https://go.nature.com/4jsKIQj 🧪

This is very disappointing to see. I have some research funds to spare -- if any Canadian climate scientists lack travel funding for the IPCC, please contact me and I will try to help out. www.cbc.ca/news/science...

Are they taking the piss? Yes, and it makes complete sense! scitechdaily.com/scientists-t...

Avian road rage "Yellow warblers near busy roads become increasingly aggressive when traffic drowns out their territorial songs, and noise pollution could trigger fights." www.forbes.com/sites/grrlsc...

‘Today, Gratton says it’s “irresponsible” for a supersonic jet that burns two to three times more fuel to be launched in a full-fledged climate crisis. “As an aeronautical engineer, I am absolutely thrilled with what Boom are doing,” he says. “As an environmental scientist, I’m horrified.”’

Following @jameskennedy.bsky.social's prompt! (I forgot a few other recent books I've enjoyed like Naomi Klein's Doppelganger)

Glad to see pretty much every comment below @theguardian.com's post so far telling it to get lost: extra consumerism *is* gloom, not a distraction from it!

So I googled "what does 216 kg of plastic waste look like" and found this video. Multiply this pile 2.16 times and that is what every average American blows through in one year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3Sf...

There has been "a significant increase in the amount of plastic being disposed of by incineration rather than recycling. Just 27.9% of plastic waste disposed of in 2022 was actually recycled." 40% of plastic waste goes to landfill. Americans consume the most plastic per head: 216kg/person/year.

Some areas in India have recently exceeded 46°C (114.8°F). And yet... "India is warming slower than the global average. Just why remains a mystery to scientists, who are looking into air pollution, expansion of irrigation, wind shifts and other possible 'cooling' factors for the country."

Water. Climate change. Potential for conflict. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

“Exclusively to Twitter” - just makes open corruption and conflicts of interest with the Trump administration and Musk. What they imagined about Soros is real life on steroids with Musk.

BREAKING from @science.org: The Trump admin is seeking to kill nearly all climate research at NOAA, its climate science agency. Its near-final budget proposal would end all NOAA research labs, academic institutes, and regional climate centers. And it wants to fully end the NOAA Research division.

Remember, when Barcelona eliminated 3 lanes of vehicle traffic & converted this street into a 4.7km green pedestrian corridor in the heart of the Eixample grid, businesses sued. They actually won. But by decision-time, the businesses had decided they actually like it. citylabbcn.org/the-legal-at...
