Morgen noch nichts vor und zufällig in Düsseldorf? Ich halte einen Workshop dazu, wie und warum KI diskriminierend sein kann und wie wir damit umgehen können! Tickets sind kostenlos! 🦜

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

I'm looking for open data sets where there's some continuous y variable (roughly Gaussian), and two nominal predictors each with 3+ levels, the kind of data set you'd analyze with a between-person two-factor anova. Topics should be of interest to social-science students. Ideas? #rstats

Feeling very happy and honoured that together with Hannah Ötting, Vanessa Kokoschka and Henning Eichler, we won the Top Extended Abstract Award of the @icajsd.bsky.social Journalism Division at #ICA25! Had an amazing time at #COMPTEXT2025. So many inspiring presentations, fruitful discussions, and amazing people. Very happy about that — and that everything worked out from the perspective of an organizer as well 😊 @comptext.bsky.social @compcommlab.bsky.social

Another banger by @aaronclauset.bsky.social + @jenniebrand.bsky.social: When early-career researchers work in diverse teams, they're more likely to build their own diverse teams in the future — helping to break the usual pattern where people mostly work with others who are similar to themselves.

As this amazingly successful #COMPTEXT2025 comes to an end, it’s time for a bit of self-reflection 🔥

This was a blast! Really enjoyed discussing bias in knowledge production, LLMs and CSS in general with @krangelie.bsky.social and @indiiigo.bsky.social! Thank you @comptext.bsky.social and @compcommlab.bsky.social for providing space for these important topics! 🙌

I had a great time presenting my work for the first time at #COMPTEXT25 - excited to keep coming back to this excellent conference!

It will be critical in the coming months and years to support junior scholars impacted by politically-motivated cuts to science funding. One potential pathway for philanthropic funders (after the lawsuits are resolved) is to prioritize funding cancelled NSF postdoctoral fellowships & CAREER grants.

The validation panels were epspecially popular at #COMPTEXT2025 To continue the discussion in June:👇
