Hurrying up to finish Walden before I have to hand it back to the library by 6 - who knew that a book written more than 150 years ago would be so popular as to have multiple holds?

A law enforcement apparatus powerful enough to identify, surveil, and apprehend 10MM undocumented immigrants is powerful enough to enforce any succeeding whim of the state. When has such an empowered agency ever accomplished its stated goal and just decided to stop there?

Remember that none of this is normal, and none of it is okay.

There's so much stuff on our social media timelines that we scroll past quickly, maybe with a "oh cool" and then moving on, but if you stop and think about what you are seeing here, it's really amazing. You're watching a high-resolution panorama view from *another* *world*. Wow. Just wow. 🔭

Currently re-reading Livy. One of the things I’ve always loved about ancient primary sources is that, if you toss them out because they exaggerate, you might be left with no sources at all. Piecing together the remote past can feel like detective work. #rome #books

Contrary to popular belief, there are only four kinds of bats.

Can social media be anything other than and endlessly agonizing dirge? Let’s give it a shot.
