There's a common path in the development of authoritarian or totalitarian regimes, regardless of whether they are overseen by Catholic Inquisitors, Protestant enforcers, monarchists, fascists, Nazis, Stalinists, Maoists .... First they eliminate words. Then they eliminate people.

This is true. A pal of mine who is a policeman went to a Scottish island recently to investigate a missing person and when the locals found out he was a Christian they stuck him in a giant human-shaped willow branch construction and burned him alive.

I appreciated "Lemmings," the video game where you did your best to efficiently save as many lemmings as possible. You always had limited resources and limited time. The lemmings operated simply, and you could train some of them to have special skills. But the goal was to save everyone.
