polling only matters to the establishment when it says what they want it to say

If you're looking for the rods from god absolute evisceration of the NYT's cowardly Cuomo endorsement from this morning, look no further than Nick Pinto's absolutely expert dismantling for @hellgatenyc.com. Were I a Sulzberger who wrote this, I'd sell the damn paper. hellgatenyc.com/nytimes-vote...

The NYT could have endorsed Lander and it didn't which again gives you a clear idea of what they are actually about.

Half the NYTs Editorial Boards argument against Zohran is you can trust the government to solve your crime but you can't trust the government to sell you a granola bar. The vast majority of people have bought something from the government and have had their crime not solved also by the government

If you rank Zohran 1st you’re voting to make every New York Times Opinion writer insane for several years.

I was so annoyed by the NYT's deeply embarrassing anti-Zohran editorial that I signed up for extra GOTV shifts volunteer.zohranfornyc.com/get-out-the-...

"An agenda that remains alluring among [elites] but has proved damaging to city life" is the ENTIRE PREMISE of Cuomo's campaign

There is no reason to be concerned about the birthrate other than racism. Humanity as a whole is above replacement levels, and we could stand to reduce the population. Age cohort problems could easily be solved through liberalized immigration. This is literally the stupidest thing to care about.

I know that some of you live in NYC and have more books than you know what to do with. If you have books that fit the bill as the ones listed below, please donate them to Bluestockings! I am trying to collect 2500 books by 9/1

to be clear: when they write "Democrats" they actually mean Third Way and a guy who was a Deputy Mayor 25 years ago

even if you somehow decided that “The Raven” had no subtext, it is extremely funny to think that the explicit text is about *liking* a raven

Huge endorsement for Zohran news.bgov.com/bloomberg-go...

A love-your-city-hate-the-mayor-who-hates-it anthem.

I actually kinda dislike the framing of "bubble" or "echo chambers" because it implies a lack of access or knowledge of other viewpoints. That's not true. I think a more accurate framing is that different sites have different *cultures*. And... that's kind of normal.

Viggo Mortenson once walked past me at the airport, talking to an attractive younger woman: "Have you ever seen the Lord of the Rings movies? Yeah, I was in them ..."

jesus christ he lit him up like Sonny Corleone

damn virginia woolf knew how to start an essay newrepublic.com/article/1159...

guys we just did bluesky is dead discourse, there hasn’t even been a traffic drop since last time, give it a few weeks

one nice thing about Bluesky is that there are just a ton of people I don't have to pretend to care about anymore. sneako? keemstar? megan mcardle? sorry I don't know those people

the thing about not having an algorithm here is it's ok to have one fucking place that's not a popularity contest. we have the nielsen ratings. we have the charts. we have meta. everything is is already a popularity contest and it fucking sucks, globally. we can have one place where you vibe it out

i think it's so cool and good that two cis people get to shape the conversation around trans people in sports for a weekend

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

I have a lot of complaints about this place sometimes, I do. But none of my concerns are that it’s not getting big enough or staying big enough. This mindset is a freaking disease. Everything does not have to be infinitely big, keep getting bigger, grow grow grow in size.

My local coffee shop is not playing around.

🤔

ahhh yes any organization that has ever been cowed into appeasing the trump administration has only ended up further humiliated, bullied, and weakened by that decision, but surely THIS time will be different!!!

It’s shameful that in New York, it’s Democrats who are the ones that are pushing to ban masks at protests.

these are closely related logically consistent positions--both CSAM (/apologism) and persecution of trans children stem from a sense of entitlement over children's bodies & a drive to shape & mold children according to adult desires & power

"These are real people with real families" cool when they come home do they tell the kids about how they busted up an elementary school graduation that day

This is all very simple. Let the world's two biggest babies fight and visibly construct and build a world without them. Anybody who tries to welcome Elon Musk, the world's most preeminent ratfucker, into their political party should be put in a dog crate until 2029.

terrified to feel optimistic about anything but god, Zohran really is so good

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

I wanted to write an article, so I asked ChatGPT FUCKING NOTHING. I wrote a FUCKING ARTICLE ABOUT SOMETHING instead, my own GODDAMN SELF. I didn't reprint a stupid computer's REPLY HAZY, ASK AGAIN LATER bullshit and say "tut-tut, tsk-tsk" afterwards

they have problems on two levels one, "follow what's popular with the electorate" treats what's popular it as static and unable to be moved, which is not true two, more specifically to this group, is that they've convinced themselves that their own personal biases are what's popular
