www.startribune.com/met-council-... Personally, I think the Met Council needs to set HARD boundaries on the suburban edge communities that they cannot build out of. Then they need to direct all the development within those boundaries, and focus nearly all development on the central cities.

Governor Walz for more homes!

Say it louder for those in the back!

HOT TAKE: There is basically no where *on earth* where townhomes are “too dense”. This is why statewide reform is almost certainly necessary. Townhomes are the kind of gentle density that should be allowed virtually everywhere. www.twincities.com/2025/02/12/b...

The #MNleg can help us grow up not out by legalizing more homes throughout Minnesota. We have the space, we need to make it possible to say #YesToHomes.

Council members Payne, Chavez, Wonsley explain why they want to move the city's group violence intervention programs to Hennepin County: "our efforts to invest in violence prevention have been severely hindered by mismanagement of the city’s Neighborhood Safety Department for the past two years."

Interested in this type of work? Reach out to us at @moreneighbors.org and join us to organize to make it happen in Minneapolis! The 2050 plan is around the corner...

N4MN volunteers understand the positive effects that come from allowing more homes to be built close to transit, jobs, grocery stores, and parks. Read their letters here: https://buff.ly/4griWlp

“Everyone in Minnesota should have access to affordable and climate-secure housing.” Time for statewide land use reform. www.longfellownokomismessenger.com/stories/lett...

I drive this corridor several times a week and my commute would get longer if I-94 were turned into a boulevard, but I wholeheartedly support the proposal because public health and climate health are more important than 5-10 minutes of my commute time. (The B line BRT also cannot come soon enough!)

Hey look! What a headline in the paper.. @moreneighbors.org is working hard on these issues - consider reaching out and helping us bring them to flthe finish line! www.startribune.com/minnesota-ho...

Senator Jen McEwen, HERO from DULUTH, landing in the middle of the urban highway juggernaut, THANK YOU for asking these important and pointed questions about @mndot.bsky.social's Rethinking I-94 process.

Minnesotans need more homes. And the state can set baselines for city zoning codes to help build more homes. Thanks to Rep. @mikehowardmn.bsky.social and Rep. Nash, co-chairs of the housing committee. We love the priority on housing solutions like zoning/land use reform. https://buff.ly/3WscjIu

Can we do this simple thing in MN too? What state law do we need to change?

Minnesota is 100K homes short of where we need to be to ensure every person has a stable, affordable place to live. @moreneighbors.org is working hard at the MN state capitol to change that. It's your turn to get involved & stay connected: actionnetwork.org/surveys/show...

Good listen: older episode about housing effects after fire burned Paradise, CA. "Nowhere is safe from climate change, but some places are safer than others. And when those places don't build enough affordable housing, it can create a vicious cycle..." 99percentinvisible.org/episode/nbft...

Urban highways were a colossal mistake and need to be torn down in every city. There's no need for them. Expand public transit and walkability instead. Cities will happier, healthier and more productive. (Yes, if you get it)

"Looking at dollars and cents, highways are a poor economic investment. They occupy nearly 25% of U.S. urban land—an area equivalent to West Virginia and valued at $4.1 trillion—yet their supposed benefits don’t justify these enormous costs."

Have you seen people using the strange acronym "SD60" but don't know what that means? If you live here, you'll be voting in a special primary election on January 14 to decide who the eventual DFL senator representing district 60 will be. Tell your friends.

I'm in the Star Tribune today! "In my backyard? Heck yes." www.startribune.com/readers-writ...

Always a fun headline to see www.thecity.nyc/2024/12/03/n...

Thx @zyudhishthu.bsky.social I'll seize the opportunity back to say Neighbors for More Neighbors is fundraising rn (donations matched until Sun!) Encourage all to support our work in Mpls AND State Capitol so we can make more & better policy changes in MN a reality! actionnetwork.org/fundraising/...

To meet transit and climate goals, Minnesota's Sierra Club @sierraclub.bsky.social is promoting policy that includes the legalization of taller point access blocks www.sierraclub.org/minnesota/bl...
