actionnetwork.org/letters/tell... We're running out of time...

It's #heartunions week, and there are lots of reasons to love unions – from the benefits of being a member to the trade union movement's wins for us all. Standing together is the only way we'll win a more equal society. The billionaires are organised, so we have to organise!

Oil and gas giants BP and Shell may have made record profits and handed huge sums to shareholders last year, but actually, they really need tax cuts. They're telling Chancellor Rachel Reeves they "cannot afford" to go on without scrapping the windfall tax on their excess profits. Sound fair?

Analysis from the Guardian and @tbij.bsky.social has found that Abramovich may owe £1bn in unpaid tax – enough to build over 2200 social homes (more than 3 times the UK's entire gain in social homes last year). And that's just one billionaire. The UK has 165.

New figures from the ONS confirm that the wealthiest 1% of UK households own as much wealth as half the UK's population combined. UK wealth is considerably more unequal and income – and the gaps are growing. We need to tax wealth and invest in the rest of us.

Do billionaires in the UK deserve their wealth? No. But do they deserve their growing power? No. But is it benefiting us? Also no. Oxfam's new report is completely right: this wealth isn't made, it's taken from us.

Why should we suffer through more "ruthless" benefit cuts at a time of record profits and skyrocketing billionaire wealth? Instead, we could tax the rich: popular with millionaires, experts and 3/4 of the public; raising tens of billions annually; and fighting inequality.

You should be asking your MP to attend... actionnetwork.org/letters/pr-d... @actionnetwork.bsky.social @makevotesmatter.bsky.social

Sign the open letter urging Elon Musk to stay out of UK politics - democracy isn't a billionaire's playground! Make your voice heard: 38d.gs/bButtOutMusk

www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... Hear! Hear!

Elon Musk does not represent the views of British people. So I've signed the open letter telling him to butt out of UK politics. Agree? Sign & share far & wide across social media so he sees & knows we won't stand for his meddling. act.38degrees.org.uk/act/elon-mus...

The median pay for a FTSE 100 CEO has risen to £4.22 million according to @highpaycentre.bsky.social That's 113 times the median UK salary – in fact, they've already been paid the yearly median salary as of noon today. This level of inequality is unsustainable.

After hearing how eating too much sugar and carbohydrates affects the human body I’ve decided to cut back on the amount of people I listen to

Now, this is too accurate 👍

Your regular reminder that there are only 2 countries in the world with religious clerics guaranteed seats in government or parliament: Iran… and the UK.

"25 years of secret talks, sidelining public concerns, have resulted in a deal that will increase trade in beef, pesticides and plastics, with disastrous impacts on the Amazon, the climate and human rights" – @liscunha.bsky.social #EUMercosur #StopEUMercosur www.greenpeace.org/eu-unit/issu...

This massive inequality isn't inevitable. The need for foodbanks has skyrocketed in the the UK – as has the number of billionaires and their wealth. These things are two sides of the same coin. Trussell do incredible, vital work, but this inequality shouldn't be how our country works.

The UK's inequality is not inevitable – it's the product of political choices. We're trying to raise £25,000 to win a more equal UK with the @biggive.bsky.social. For one week only, you donate and we'll double it! Donate now for twice the impact: donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05...

An audio clip claims to record Joe Biden saying “he removed Imran Khan from power because he was not carrying USA interests”, but this is not a genuine clip. There’s no evidence he ever actually said this. The clip has been digitally created, potentially using AI.

Green MP and @appgfairelections.bsky.social Vice-Chair, Ellie Chowns: "If Labour can win a huge majority on a third of the votes, then potentially any party could win a huge majority on a third of the votes. And I don't need to remind us all that that is a really dangerous situation"

"The threat posed to women by Trump’s cabinet is real; the threat posed by Sarah McBride is imagined. And yet one draws Republican applause, while the other draws ire. As I posted yesterday, 'I look at this incoming government and all I can see is rape.'"

chng.it/77y2QtBJBn please help us help ourselves & sign the petition no matter where you live. Sneaky & greedy developers submitted plans to demolish our only cinema (to build housing) months before it ceases trading (after developers refused to renew their lease) trying to circumvent this petition
