Strewth but what an absolutely glorious morning it is here, in sunny downtown Kettering! Wishing one & all a bonzer day.

We're going to have a droughty summer in the UK, and who's to blame? Privatised utilities: they refused to fix the UK's water system, took huge profits, paid themselves, and invested that money in oil and gas to deepen the climate crisis. Nationalise them now!

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉 Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace. You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

Good morning sunshine!

🚨 Thursday’s elections prove it: First Past the Post is broken. 5 parties, chaotic results, millions left unrepresented. We need Proportional Representation — NOW. ✍️ Sign the petition: actionnetwork.org/petitions/20...

A very worthy petition to be signed here: 38d.gs/v39r

Do you want to know one of the main reasons that the UK is broken? Here are ten reasons why the UK is not functioning properly; yes 10! makevotesmatter.org.uk/first-past-t... @makevotesmatter.bsky.social

FIRST PAST THE POST (FPTP) IS BEARING DEVIANT CHAOS & MUST END; Kent Reform won 37% vote but due 2 FPTP 70% of seats? Exeter Labour came 1st in votes but won 0/9 seats? Deform, Greens, Cons & Lib Dems all had less votes than Labour but more seats? A Lib Dem Cllr. in Cornwall won a seat on 19% vote?

"A voting system that effectively bins 3/5ths of all votes cast is leading to alienation & distrust, as stated in the party programme before the 2024 election.. The government must set up a National Commission to design a better electoral system for a better democracy" 🌹 @sandyofipswich.bsky.social

"What is one policy that you would like to make law if you could just snap your fingers?" "Proportional Representation," says @zackpolanski.bsky.social on Enough About Me podcast with Lewis Brown. "Everyone's vote should count" 👏👏👏

These planned cuts are a major part of the reason #Labour did so badly in the Local Elections yesterday! This version of Labour isn't really Labour at all 😕

These pathetic so-and-so's came onto private property to deface my Vote Green sign... Vote Green Party for the sake of our futures'!

The vote share of the two biggest parties has been falling steadily for decades. Recent polling shows it could fall below 50%. And yet we still have a voting system designed to silence all other voices. It's time for a system update. It's time for PR. Graphic by @tldrnews.bsky.social

No wonder the fossil fuel back politicians are against renewable energy

“The nature levy is not a tool for ecological recovery: it is a licence to kill nature, with no evidence to suggest this would in any way help our economy" More ill-considered and disgraceful policy from this inept catastrophe of a government www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

More than 6 million illegal vapes were seized in 2 years, many sold to children. But that's just the surface- 1 in 6 vapes found in schools contain Spice, a dangerous synthetic drug harming young people. We urgently need tougher regulations to protect children and public health. 👇

Labour voters aren’t just disappointed – they feel gaslit. From Europe to benefits, the party speaks in riddles. Is it time to walk away? But where do their disillusioned voters go now – left, right or out? @eastangliabylines.co.uk @peterthurlow.bsky.social

How does Farage get away with it? Just what is behind the apparent popularity of the self-appointed “man of the people”? @westenglandbylines.co.uk westenglandbylines.co.uk/news/brexit/...

England & Wales are the only countries that fully privatised water and sewage systems – and we got sewage dumping, huge bill hikes, debt, and profits prioritised over basic services. Now 8 in 10 people want to end privatisation. The gov needs to listen.

In cities, towns and villages, a 20mph/30kmh limit is the "sweet spot" to balance mobility, safety, livability, noise, emissions and freedom. In Wales it reduced casualties by 28% and insurance premiums by approx. £50 pa also making Welsh places better places to be. It's global best practice.

Inequality is a crisis – and if you agree with that, you're in the majority. 75% of people in the UK are worried about inequalities of wealth and income. We can build a more equal UK! Join us now: equalitytrust.org.uk/

The best reason to get children out of poverty is that you get children out of poverty. The second best reason is that you save the state enormous amounts of money. Every year the gov choose to keep the two-child benefit cap, we all lose.

Most invertebrates may never appear in a documentary, but they pollinate, decompose, and feed the world. E.O. Wilson called them “the little creatures that run the Earth.” He was right. @vannabartlett.bsky.social shares her love of invertebrates #EarthDay

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70... Tobacco kills and so "they" banned tobacco advertising. Fossil fuels kill so "they" allow fossil fuel advertising... Where's the consistency?

Invertebrates make up 99% of animal species on Earth – yet remain overlooked, unloved and misunderstood. 🐜🕷️ It’s time we gave these tiny powerhouses the attention they deserve | Vanna Bartlett @eastangliabylines.co.uk @vannabartlett.bsky.social
