Fiji was a collection of islands, airports used for international flight emergency refueling, and resorts for the rich.

On our way to Fiji thought I’d share two pics. One a gorgeous sunset plus the Blood Moon eclipse last night. #travel

Day 65: independent Samoa was a modern city with paved roads and many traffic lights. There was a brand new McDonalds in the center of the city. The local people were just as friendly as its American neighbors. No tears shed here. #travel

Days 64-65: What a story of contrasting worlds. Visit to American Samoa and its neighbor independent Samoa was surprising in which the U.S. territory was much less developed than its neighbor.

Day 60: the stay in French Polynesia was great. We did kayak excursions, reef exploration, sunsets and sunrises, and some shopping. #travel

Tomorrow I’ll post pictures of our wonderful 8- day visit to French Polynesia. But for now I’ll post a pic of the extinct volcano that created the gorgeous island of Bora Bora.#travel

Day 57 of our trip started with a warm welcome from a local band in Raiatea island. #travel

Today we arrived at the Society Islands of French Polynesia. Passengers went several directions in Huahine-Nui. Wx was hot and the water warm and inviting. #travel

Today it was Pitcairn island, famous cause it was populated by some mutineers of the HMS Bounty fame. We allowed the islanders onboard and bought wares from them. It was a good day. Total population 45. #travel

Day 55: Once in a lifetime visit to Easter island is now over. I found the facilities for tourism poor. But it’s people friendly. Then there’s the Moai, they are everywhere. #travel

13 Feb the cruise stopped in the Port of Chacabuco in Chile. Near the town of Aysén with its hanging bridge and a small but beautiful national park.

Yesterday we visited Punta Arenas in Chile as we began our vogage away from Antarctica. Small town with limited resources pans a tiny population. #travel W

In addition to the day’s activities the ship staff had a surprise presentation for the Super Bowl. #travel

On day 28 of our cruise we arrived at Port Stanley of the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas). Sadly the wind and the resulting waves did not permit tender operations so we started off to Antarctica.

Day 17: The beach town of Buzios was our last stop before Rio de Janeiro. There is no need to hire a tour operator as everything is accesible. Shops and restaurants are plenty. Buzios was made famous by starlet Brigitte Bardot. I recommend this stop.

Salvador was a surprise to us as the city center was vibrant and a gem. We particularly liked its people. Our ship berthed near the city center. The church pictured here is credited with countless miracles and it was evident by the many penitents inside.

We are approaching Salvador, Brasil on our 15th day. The weather is hot and muggy. Here is the current map of our travels.

Today we toured Recife the fourth largest city in Brasil. The city was quiet as it is Sunday. Good architecture and art museums plus an expert coconut corer providing a lot of milk. Lots of history as the city was conquered by the Dutch which caused a reattach by Portugal some years later.

Today we visited Brasil for the first time. Yesterday we crossed into the southern hemisphere and today we toured Belem. Pics of a red faced monkey and of the local Basilica were worth posting.

The second port was the island of Barbados. Pretty city with a small city center.
