Thank God! 🇮🇪 @reading-woman.bsky.social

Honestly, James Baldwin can never fail to raise the spirits.

It is shocking to me that it is already Friday and I must be back in school in a few days.

Absolutely. The visibility of people in need in the states is really quite shocking to visitors from the UK I think. Obv not saying the UK is poverty free but as Stephen suggests elsewhere, it's the visibility. (Side note, DC subway is the nicest of American public transport I've encountered)

Still looking for schools teaching Pride and Prejudice at GCSE! Please repost or forward to anyone who might be able to help... Thanks.

Gotta love being in a pub on a Thursday afternoon for eavesdropping. "So I can't have sex for a while, until I know what I've got."

Half-term haircut, dinner out. What a glamorous life.

And another thing - you don't need to know details like my salary from 10 years ago or the number of kids at my first school. You esp don't if you insist on having you own app form and not just using TES quick apply.

Yesterday's Connections was pushing it. "Sounds"?!

Another revealing clue to this is apparently what Club RS is a member of.

A good half term break has at least one "do nothing, no need to get up for anything" day and today is this day.

Pay walled but worth a read if you can. www.thetimes.com/uk/education...

Hot damn! This portrait is phenomenal. I mean, if you commissioned a portrait of yourself to be remembered by, this is the way to go. Look at that lab coat, those lapels, that gold microscope. 🥵

Totally misses 2 key issues w/ this old hot potato: 1) UK summers are comparably short vs int'nat'l ed; 2) Schs can't fix or be resp'ble for the enormity of society's issues. Solutions to probs he raises: reducing poverty; increased access to social care/support; & reversing loss of youth projects

If you're a school and you advertise for a job theb then I'm sorry but "if you don't hear from us, you haven't been shortlisted" isn't an acceptable response. Bcc a template email. It's not difficult.

Cmon Keir, stand up to the dickheads at home too.

On Library Lovers Day, enjoy this optimistic 1950s magazine cover “Stand aside television. The library holds the stage as the curtain rises on this new age of the written word” (1957) Artist: DL Mays

It got really very good but then the ending was a bit meh.

Is there a better novelist for reading aloud than Jane Austen? I think not!
