Absolutely. The visibility of people in need in the states is really quite shocking to visitors from the UK I think. Obv not saying the UK is poverty free but as Stephen suggests elsewhere, it's the visibility. (Side note, DC subway is the nicest of American public transport I've encountered)

Hot damn! This portrait is phenomenal. I mean, if you commissioned a portrait of yourself to be remembered by, this is the way to go. Look at that lab coat, those lapels, that gold microscope. 🥵

Totally misses 2 key issues w/ this old hot potato: 1) UK summers are comparably short vs int'nat'l ed; 2) Schs can't fix or be resp'ble for the enormity of society's issues. Solutions to probs he raises: reducing poverty; increased access to social care/support; & reversing loss of youth projects

It got really very good but then the ending was a bit meh.

Is there a better novelist for reading aloud than Jane Austen? I think not!
