Working on something…

Some interesting/fun extracts from the feature with Keita Takahashi. Laura E. Hall did a great job (Great art by Doug John Miller too). Would really recommend giving any A Profound Waste of Time a read if you haven't.

Was a big sceptical about A Profound Waste of Time magazine given the rise in ‘premium’ gaming mags, but five articles in and the quality is evident. it’s a solidly written, with fascinatingly insightful articles on games development.

Random post reminding you that A Profound Waste of Time is anything but (doubly so if gaming 🤝 art is your jam or wish Venus Patrol or if @bossfightbooks.com has ever crossed your path or if Babycastles ever caught your eye) apwot.com

Issue 1 indeed sold out yesterday but I’m looking at reprint options!

And rightfully so! Why wouldn't such an incredible magazine be featured?! 😁 (Seriously, guys, APWOT is *insane* -- both as a visual spectacle and a meaningful piece of high-quality games journalism. Support it! 😀)

Looking into possible solutions!

We've completely sold out of issue 3 and we're down to the last 40 or so of issue 1. This is a nice problem to have but it's still a problem.🥲 I need to focus all resources on issue 5 and reprinting is very costly, but having no income coming in from selling mags is also damaging long term. 🫠

I really feel Elden Ring is a great starting point just imo due to its non linear nature. If you hit a wall you can just go and explore elsewhere. So envious of anyone who gets to play it for the first time! What an experience.

It's Friday night!

It's so nice to read feedback like this. You don't know how much it helps, thank you! 🥲

Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Shinya Arino, famed host of GameCenter CX. I'd love to speak with a few critics, journalists, or game makers who are fans of the show. If that's you, please drop me a line -- it's for a very beautiful, lavishly produced magazine. Reposts appreciated!

Portal 2 For APWOT 🐦‍⬛

I blame @itsjensim.bsky.social and @apwot.bsky.social for this

Every issue is a winner, but this one is *especially* good.

🚨 Stock Alert 🚨 Found a box of APWOT 3 Special Editions with thermochromic Ink and the stock is now on the site shop.apwot.com. Make sure your hands are warm! ♨️👏

The response to this was incredible but an unfortunate side effect is that I have now been spoiled on a LOT of really cool stuff. 🙈

Christmas haul. Most excited about APWOT 4. Love reading about people's passions and video games -and- am a massive Portal fan so the 28 pages dedicated to Portal 2 are an even greater joy to read, with some LEGO building in between.

If you love games in all it's forms, then you will love A Profound Waste Of Time. Massive respect to @apwot.bsky.social for always putting together an excellent magazine. Finally got my hands on it now I'm back home for the holidays #gamedev

I live my life by this quote: “The very best videogames in existence leave you with a whole mess of memories that are so varied and entertaining that you can leaf through them like a photo album." - Quintin Smith, talking about the game VVVVVV

Seeing all the answers to this. God damn man. I love video games.

Question: Is there a game, or even a moment from a game, that you feel is genuinely life affirming?

Listen up, Phones. The World Ends With You. If you want to enjoy life, you gotta expand your horizons.

So many great responses to this ! None of you have mentioned the climax of Okami, but that’s really high up there for me personally. Such a beautiful and heartfelt culmination of the game and its themes (and some of the best music ever composed for a video game) 🌸
