The tower, nave & chancel all date from this period & contain the most beautiful Romanesque architecture including the tower, chancel & entrance arches #MedievalMonday AncientBlueSky 🏺

Quarry Wood “Oppidum”, Kent. Much of the SW side has been destroyed by quarrying, exposing pottery & bone from the early C1st AD. A lot is still to be learnt about the site but a pre conquest hub controlling the local iron smelting industry has been suggested. #HillfortsWednesday AncientBlueSky 🏺

This week my employer of 17 years English Heritage announced 200 jobs lost, and my Alma mater Cardiff Uni announced 400 jobs lost. The planning system that protects our heritage and provides thousands of archaeology jobs is at risk, and Higher Education is in free fall more generally #ThisIsFine
