I've donated some books to the Genre Creators for Trans Rights auction, but you could also win a pair of Tarlington's gloves (hand-knitted by me!) www.32auctions.com/organization...

Wonderfully written, insightful piece about Sinners. I'm not sure you'll read anything better about this movie, tbh.

This film was pretty inspiring. It taught me that no matter how bad a film came be, or how boringly you can adapt a legendary true crime story, sometimes Netflix will still buy it and put it on their platform for millions of people to be able to watch. I wish I hadn't been one of them.

Folks openly talking about what should otherwise just be discovered from watching Sinners. I assumed the trailers were spoiler-filled (I didn't watch them) but watching them now they aren't. But online folks are talking about what goes down. Don't just assume everyone already knows things you do.

There was a trailer for the new MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie before Sinners yesterday. That film series started in 1996. Each M:I film feels set in the present day of whenever it was released. So has Ethan Hunt just been living that exhausting life every day for 30 years?

Back from SINNERS. I think I'm going to be listening to that soundtrack on repeat until July.

I was about to post a ranty thread about some of the latest crappy UK news, but I planned to leave that behaviour behind on the Other Place. Instead, here's a link to the 'Timeline Clense' feed, which is a better use of time than reading more rants. There's cats and stuff. (BTW: Write to your MP)

Some solid additions. The team did well with ABIGAIL too so I've got some high hopes for this sequel.

I like to think that The Pope stuck around a bit longer just so he could tell JD Vance to go fuck himself in person.

I went to the Tate Modern yesterday. In the Rothko room with all the Serious Art Connoisseurs there was a ~5 year old kid who walked up to each painting, pointed at it and shouted 'RECTANGLE' at each one in turn, then left the room.

I think I've watched this video about 20 times already this morning. #TinyChefShow

Went to see FLOW this evening. Beautiful movie, as everyone has already said.

Haha, OMG Google. I'm sorry, but of all the potential uses of AI, 'getting answers to questions we used to be able to just Google and find for ourselves in 2 minutes' doesn't seem like a problem that even needed solving. And certainly wasn't one that needed solving badly.

I love this. And if any of my local book shops want to move then I'll certainly join in. Or any pet shops.
