Hosted the younger siblings, their SOs, & mom last night. Cookeda pork loin roast in the sous vide for quick-fried, select-a-size katsu. It was the juiciest, tenderest, and crunchiest katsu ever. Pair that with karaage appetizers, beer, and plum wine and it was a great home izakaya night.

I love No More Heroes. I relate to Travis tons (Midori sums up why here), but 3 REALLY ramped that up. Esp the Sonic Juice pre-fight talk. I’m not AS plugged into Japanese media as my pals, but—esp w/Suda’s friendship w/Akira Yamaoka & Shinji Mikami—I like finally finding a style that really fits.

Reminds me a bit of Obama being elected when my personal life was in shambles. Knowing W was out of office helped a lot! Then my life rocketed shortly before Trump was first elected. Joked that I’d be ok with my life being terrible again if it meant the world wasn’t going to hell. Hah hah.

I agree that isolation is not the answer, but I am reminded of my mother's wisdom that there is a difference between friend, associate and acquaintance. Social media has sped a collapse of cordial = friend but some people need to be demoted into a less intimate status because they steal energy.
