Prime Minister Mark Carney 🇨🇦 "Large American online platforms have become seas of racism, misogyny, antisemitism, Islamophobia and hate in all its forms ... My government will act." #cdnpoli

We need every country to act against the rise of hate in all forms. We do NOT have to keep repeating the past, we need to build a better future. #Canada 💪🏻🍁

Alpha male podcasts have broken Gen Z in the same way people used to claim Facebook broke Boomers.

I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

This is about all of us. Never forget that.

Quick-hit thoughts/notes around the Patriots and NFL (third-round pick Kyle Williams' mentality adds to WR room; undrafted RB Lan Larison's $175k guarantee; Stefon Diggs makes impression; what led Julian Ashby to become 1st snapper drafted since '21 etc.) www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/...

Same reason that those "hard borders or else" people don't think it's a valid argument to say "If we don't have total control of our own bodies, we literally don't have citizenship." There are no principles for them, only slogans.

If there was ever a time for millions of people to protest…

Yes. We keep writing headlines that assign powers to the president that he does not have.

Beyond the destruction of America’s prosperity and the horrific damage done by spreading HIV and Malaria around the globe, Musk is also building a spying machine using the data he’s looted from the American public.

Yeah soooo this was the real point of DOGE all along; stealing every bit of our personal data they could get their hands on to build a dumber, more sadistic Skynet for them to sic on everyone they don’t like

Today is World Press Freedom Day Reporters Without Borders have published the 2025 World Press Freedom Index. rsf.org/en/rsf-world... Among other stark conclusions, the Index finds that in 2025, less than 1% of the world's population lives in a country where press freedom is fully guaranteed.

I've been against hospital funding and the efficient use of taxpayer money for a really long time. I'm glad Tim Houston had the courage to cut $20 million in annual funding to hospitals while making it harder for healthcare workers and patients to find parking. Top-notch policy by Tim.

When famously squaring off with President Donald Trump over education funding, Mills said she would see Trump in court. She did just that, and on Friday she won a settlement for her state, for the kids and for people everywhere who needed to see a certain asshole bully get punched right in the eye.

Governor Mills to Trump: "I'll see you in court" Trump: "Actually, no, lets settle."

The impact of an unpopular American president on a foreign election is stunning. Never seen anything like the seismic political shift Trump triggered in Canada to deliver a stunning Liberal win. Trump’s toxicity is rewriting global politics.

I wonder how explicit this will get - how many campaign ads against right-wing ethnonationalist parties in South Asia, South America, Europe, or Africa will end up warning voters about the kind of governance the US is getting if they fail to reject the right

Ending up in a constitutional crisis over the Official Residences Act feels like it would be the most Canadian thing ever

Pierre running in an Alberta riding that just went Conservative by over 80% of the vote is like me trying to win the local talent show by demanding my parents be the judges www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art...

lol, in Australia, the party whose leader acted most like Trump not only lost the election, but their leader lost his seat I smell a trend 👀

AOC: Tom Homan said he was going to refer me to DOJ because I’m using my free speech rights in order to advise people of their constitutional protections… to that I say: Come for me… Do I look like I care? There’s nothing illegal about it and if they want to make it illegal, they can come take me.

All kidding aside, the biggest reason to keep Poilievre out of Parliament is to change the tone. We can't operate as a civil nation when one party leader exists only to attack the other. Civil debates and factual discussions, not personal attacks and three-word slogans, please.

hey @mark-carney.bsky.social, congratulations on winning the election! now that you’re the boss let’s talk about the proposed counter tariffs on books that will decimate the canadian publishing industry

The Fuhrer wants a Nuremberg style parade on his birthday.

Alt headline: Free parking driving incentive suffers from complete success.

Having recently escaped the US for a better, more civil, life in #Canada, I spent Monday closely watching the results of the Canadian snap election come in. This is a great summary of what happened, particularly for interested Americans.

“Trump’s interest in annexation, and his claim of some right to do it—the Canadian border is “just an artificial line”—is clear, and, though he does not (yet) use the language of military conquest, what other form could annexation of a neighboring country that doesn’t want to be annexed take?”

Love this. Not only is the University of Alabama not bending the knee for Trump, they basically said “f*ck off.”

Seeing several press gallery journalists confirm that Conservative MP Damien Kurek is resigning so Pierre Poilievre can run in Battle River—Crowfoot. To say that’s a safe seat is an understatement, lmao

As always, AI isn't "hallucinating" this answer. It's cribbing it, probably from the snarky top comment to this post on Reddit, and it does not understand the words it cribs.

Poilievre running to the safest conservative seat in the safest conservative province is the most loser move I've ever seen. It's worse that not getting elected. It's afirmative action for right-wing failures. He should be so embarassed that he collapses in on himself. It's incredible.

Lol, Carney is asked about the size of his cabinet and whether Francois-Philippe Champagne will stay on as finance minister. "Did he ask you that question?" Carney jokes. "Now we know your sources." The room laughed very hard haha

Reporter: “In your second call with the president, did Mr. Trump outright say or insinuate at any point that Canada should become the 51st state?” Canadian PM Carney: “He did not.”

this is maybe the stupidest idea i've ever had but i genuinely think a way to save video game journalism/media is a print-only monthly magazine

oh good, the main far right labeler on this site that provides helpful anti-MAGA lists has decided that the proper way to be anti-far right is to claim that the ideology that the majority of Jews in the world should not be forcibly relocated from their homes is in fact a far right ideology

New from 404 Media: Mike Waltz has inadvertently revealed the obscure app the government is using to archive Signal messages. Made by a company called TeleMessage. Use of the Signal clone raises questions about how messages being secured, what classification of info www.404media.co/mike-waltz-a...

Does Carney believe Trump has respected Canada's sovereignty lately? "It's always important to distinguish want from reality," Carney said. "What someone wants, and what is reality, and what the Canadian people clearly have stated, virtually without exception, is this will never ever happen."

Video from February, when Sen. John Fetterman got in an argument with a pilot about wearing his seatbelt so it was visible. “Sir, if you want to go to Pittsburgh, it's simple: you have to follow our instructions or you're gonna be asked to get off the airplane.” “We're not asking much.”

Fascism and non-places go hand-in-hand as the non-places are the spaces the most abhorrent violence happens in fascist states. National defense areas or designated military zones are literally places where rule of law and humanitarian law do not exist and where anything is possible.
