A thousand blows is a true story based on the Forty Elephants. A female crime syndicate who specialised in shoplifting. In 2018, I read the historical newspapers about them, how they evaded being caught for so long. So glad this story is being brought to life! www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/t...

Due to gaping wounds inflicted by his concerned bedside-companion, Phez the Pheasant needs to undergo surgery again🧵🪡

The trouble is, once I started imagining they were taking selfies I couldn’t unsee it

Made the most of the sunny weather by exploring new places and enjoying a riverside picnic. I still have to pinch myself when I remember that we LIVE here and it's not a holiday.

Our snuggly pup, a snuggly B, takeaway curry, glass of wine & back-to-back episodes of Six Nations: Full Contact, and this may just be my perfect evening

“I have spent many hours with those cats, and still I am amazed at how perfectly they reject everything it means to be in prison”. Every day is #Caturday prisonjournalismproject.org/2024/10/23/c...

Oscar Wilde, still 1 of the best on #prison "Society takes upon itself the right to inflict appalling punishment on the individual, but it also has the supreme vice of shallowness, and fails to realise what it has done. When the man’s punishment is over ... it abandons him ..." #Criminology

Today, my colleague is a 5 month old fur-child who tires easily and farts in her sleep but still manages to be a delight to work with

@culturalclare.bsky.social is on Bluesky! We relocated 250 miles just 6mo ago and didn't know anyone near to our new home. Our local pub holds a weekly quiz night and going has helped us adapt to a massive, and often lonely, change. It was the first place people remembered our names.

"First there was a nationwide ban on women’s voices in public and now, this month, one of the last remaining female-run media outlets has been silenced, with the offices of a Kabul-based women’s radio station, Radio Begum, raided, staff arrested and the station taken off air."

Mealtimes should be nourishing - both physiologically & emotionally. But, hospital eating environments in mental health wards don't always create the best setting for healing. Take a look at our animation with @susanguthrieslt.bsky.social exploring patient stories: vimeo.com/1041186684...

My morning commute is getting lighter and lighter, and ohmyword, I needed this

A very lovely weekend of cosy evenings, Moors walks & cheese platters galore

🚨NEW EPISODE🚨 pod.fo/e/2a9740 Prison is meant to punish wrongdoing. But it's not just the person on the inside who's punished, it's their family too... In this episode, we're joined by Josie Cole and Dr Lorna Brookes to discuss imprisonment, children, and families. 🎧Listen now! pod.fo/e/2a9740

As the wife of a paramedic who served over 10 years on the front line in London and is now serving Yorkshire, I echo all of this. I'm so glad it was written.

Today is one of those days when I'm congratulating myself for getting out of the house on time (sort of) * I slipped in our puppy's wee at 5.30am * Puppy destroyed a houseplant & ate half a tealight candle when I went to get dressed for work * I spilled orange juice over my first outfit & sofa

Today marks 6 months since we relocated, way up the country, to North Yorkshire. Relocating comes with many challenges and emotions, but it was the best decision we could have made for ourselves. Yorkshire is now very much home.

This @hmiprisonsnews.bsky.social thematic report using data from 4 women's reception prisons is a shocking read, even for those who work in the sector. Prison is a very unsafe place for women. Read the report here: cloud-platform-e218f50a4812967ba1215eaecede923f.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/site...

Very much looking forward to this event later today

Celebrities are deliberately dressing as books and you can’t change our mind

Optimistic, sure. But also, morally shitty. We should be sticking together and looking after one another. Unity is what he is afraid of and tries to destroy.

Strut Safe have moved over to Bluesky and are removing themselves from X 🧡💖

We pulled ourselves away from our cosy morning to go for a chilly walk in our stunning North Yorkshire Moors. All 3 were glad for it.
