One interpretation of Trumps NBC interview. Trump was prompted by his staff to sound unifying and innocuous. He initially stayed with his script. But then, when pressed, the fake facade began to break and the vengeful and egomaniacal Trump began to come out. But the interviewer didn't press him.

Here's an idea in the hearings of Hegseth (if it comes to that). Give old Pete some tough hypothetical situations to solve. Like how to allocate weapons, troops and other resources when a specific conflict arises. How to do a basic budget. And other actual challenges outside of "woke" issues.

Us old farts remember when politics and the economy were working for people and businesses. We had guardrails and more ethical standards...It wasn't perfect and had problems. But fundamentally it made today's politics and economy seem horrific by comparison. Someone in 1975 would be horrified.

Since the 90s, progressives challenged corporate globalization neoliberalism to protect the domestic economomy. They were dismissed as too far left by the Democrat elites. Trump filled the void.
