A Public Citizen report obtained exclusively by NPR shows the new administration has halted or tried to dismiss cases or investigations against at least 89 companies in the last month.

LMAO

Sen. Schmitt on tariffs: "The truth of the matter of what's going on with Canada is they have been ripping us off for generations and they've gotten away with it." (Trump negotiated our trade deal with Canada!)

"How should the Canadian government approach the US?" As a potential threat: 38% (+25) As an enemy: 13% (+11) Cautiously: 24 (+1) As an ally: 15% (-27) On friendly terms: 8% (-9) Angus Reid / Mar 3, 2025 / n=2005 / Online (% Change With November 2024)

“I’m not a MAGA guy, I’m for Canada first,” says Poilievre, which sounds a hell of lot like “I’m not a Scotsman,” set to bagpipes.

I'm glad Trudeau's taking Trump's threats seriously. Most people don't want to admit that Trump has become completely unhinged and has gathered a bunch of sadistic henchmen around him who are happy to push his most demented ideas.

NEW: Elon Musk is trying to buy Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, spending millions to install bought-and-paid-for MAGA extremist Brad Schimel. Today, @WisDems launches a campaign to punch back: The People v. Musk.🧵

Easy to lose this in the noise of the day, but the prime minister of Canada just said the US president, leader of the global hegemon, wants to soften us up economically so he can annex us. That is one of the most remarkable statements, and realities, in our history.

hey here's the new cartoon in phone-friendly format tinyview.com/this-modern-...

Eric Trump plainly admits that his father’s Sunday social media post about the “crypto strategic reserve” was intended to manipulate the crypto markets

Me: I can’t believe UK voters chose to torch their economy with Brexit. That can never be topped. American voters:

In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%. While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired. Let's learn more. 🧵1/10

Trump's first term: "Take him seriously, not literally” Trump's second term: "Take him literally, not seriously"

I don't think there's precedent for this level of open corruption at the federal level, certainly not in the last 100+ years.

Trudeau: "Every country is very aware that if the American government is willing to do this to their own closest ally, neighbor, and friend, everyone is vulnerable to a trade war."

Trudeau: "I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don't want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically."

Trudeau: "He talked about banking again today in a tweet, which doesn't make any sense because 16 banks are currently active in Canada holding about $113b worth of assets in this country... what he wants is to see a total collapse of the Canadian economy, because that'll make it easier to annex us."

Trudeau: "What Trump said yesterday that there is nothing Canada or Mexico can do to avoid these tariffs underlines very clearly what I think a lot of us have suspected for a long time: that these tariffs are not specifically about fentanyl even though that's the legal justification he must use"

Trudeau: "Now I want to speak directly to one specific American. Donald...it's not in my habit to agree with the WSJ, but Donald, they point out that even though you're a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do. We friends fighting is exactly what our opponents around the world want to see."

Trudeau: "They're talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin- a lying, murderous, dictator. Make that make sense. Canadians are reasonable and we are polite. But we will not back down from a fight...Canada will be implementing 25% tariffs against $155b of American goods."

CNN is covering Trudeau's presser live. That's a big deal.

this is true. and there's another big additional group: pensioners. same story.

Okay, farmers, you heard him, over the next month you need to turn your wheat crop that was set for export into sugar cane you can sell domestically. Surely you can do this if you just believe enough in Trump's greatness.

RFK Jr’s top spokesman at HHS resigns after just 2 weeks after reporting clashing with him about his response to the measles epidemic in Texas. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

I called my dad yesterday and mentioned that they might not want to assume that social security checks would arrive on time. His response was "I don't have to worry about that, it's all computerized", which I thought was an interesting look into how people assume DOGE's cuts won't affect them.

Some context for the un-emBloomberged masses of Bluesky: today's GDPNow estimate is literally the worst number excepting COVID that has happened since the indicator existed

American farm exports were worth $179 billion in 2022

There it is. Literally saying the US and Russia are working together to take away the independence of another country. I'm wondering if any of our press is gonna pick this one up? Seems like headline material?

The chance of America supporting anyone but Russia is fast disappearing.

I worry deeply that the economic shock the US is about to face from Trump's vandalism is going to drive the MAGA crowd even further to the extreme right as reactionary grievance politics surges.

Every time someone says the midterms will save America, I always say, I do not presume free elections. These idiot vandals are taking an axe to how government works, often illegally, at every level, in order to benefit themselves. Why would they stop at rigging elections?

Breaking: RFK Jr. moves to quietly eliminate public comment from HHS's decision making: www.statnews.com/2025/02/28/r...

If DOGE is a federal agency, it can’t shield its records from the public. If it’s not an agency, then its tens of millions of dollars in funding weren’t legally allocated and should be returned, some contend.

If you're expressing "bewilderment" abt why Trump would betray US allies for Putin, you probably need to go back & read what Trump was up to when Mike Flynn investigation halted negotiations w/Kirill Dmitriev, who has picked up right where that left off. www.emptywheel.net/2025/03/02/r...

@asamckercher.bsky.social Hi Asa, I am your 2nd cousin. Your greatgrandfather James was brother to my grandmother Ialeen. I reached out on twitter the other day not knowing your father was Brian. I have been trying to get a hold of Brian - and have been talking with your uncle Bruce.

what a day

I distinctly recall people screaming at me that Trump was the "free speech" president, and Harris was clearly going to be censorial.

I’m still processing what we saw in the Oval Office and it’s difficult to put into words how disgusted and ashamed I am. This was a coordinated assault on an ally to benefit a dictator and authoritarian regime. Trump and Vance aren’t just Putin’s puppets, they’re his assets.

In this instance, standing up against and defying the United States of America is the morally, geopolitically, and strategically right decision.

Motherfucker is using the most basic-ass prebuilt with a shitty AIO (which I think isn't even mounted right? it seems like pump is the top of the loop) with the shittiest cable management possible and a GPU too small/weak to drive a display that's more expensive than the PC.

The Trump - Vance - Zelenskyy fight in the Oval office was two jerks beating up on one hero. You now see exactly the dumb ass ignorant views and behaviour of the "big shot" Oh, and at the end it is "all great tv"

hat tip to @theliamnissan.bsky.social

ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about? VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media

It bears repeating.
