Can’t help but think the sport failed Loris Karius. Had such a promising start to his career and was let down through a lack of mental support. Great to hear he had a strong debut for Schalke.

Can’t believe I have to say this but agents for the love of everything please do not cold call me in the middle of the night to recommend a GK for a Europa League level club when the GK couldn’t hold a contract in the amateur level. Have some decency and respect.

Introducing Expected Defensive Threat Reduction (xDEF) ⚽️📊💻 A new model that measures how defensive players reduce attacking passing threat by calculating the probability of reducing goals with EPV, xPass and pressures + Ligue 1 examples 🇫🇷 marclamberts.medium.com/expected-def...

Bayern are reportedly in on Jonas Urbig (FC Köln), who is 2nd on my list of U23 goalkeepers in Germany and probably in my top 15 U23 gks globally. Would really worry about his development if he isn’t loaned, as Bayern are already stalling the career of Daniel Peretz thanks to a past-his-prime Neuer

Beyond the embarrassing lack of ambition from Dortmund, you have to question if their low target of success is still too high? The resources are there to do more, but the coaching and recruitment leaves so much to be desired.

I’m way too proud of this accomplishment

For the fans of German football, I took a look at the top four divisions’ shot-stopping data as the Hinrunde comes to a close. Dennis Seimen continues to shine and is one of my top prospects in goalkeeping, but who stands out to you? @getfootballnewsgermany.com

Bringing back a visual from a while back on my twitter, wanted to look at how shot-stopping performances are shaping up to be as we wrap up the first half of the season. David De Gea is putting out vintage performances at Fiorentina, but who stands out to you? How is your goalkeeper performing?

Jonathan Burkardt is (and has been for some time) one of my favorite players to watch. Do have a soft spot for Mainz, so I don’t want to see him go, but surely he is due for a step up

THREAD: ADVENT CALENDAR I am new to Bluesky and haven’t shared any content anywhere else for a while. Mostly due to my full time job. But now, as the football analysis community is slowly but surely moving away from X, formerly the best thing ever as Twitter - it’s about time.

Legia Warsaw’s Kacper Tobiasz is a well-rounded and promising goalkeeper that I’ve kept my eye on for a few seasons now, and I think he is close to being ready for a step up. Check out my brief report here: medium.com/@arscouting/...

Definitely back in a writing mood thanks to Bluesky. Next three goalkeeper reports coming soon!

The young Canadian goalkeeper Emil Gazdov is linked with a move away from Pacific FC to MLS and Bundesliga clubs, but is he ready for it? I wrote a brief scouting report here: medium.com/@arscouting/...

Actually seeing content I want to see on my timeline here has given me a bit of motivation and inspiration to write again/do something public-facing. Weekend goal will be a report of the young Canadian goalkeeper Emil Gazdov, currently playing at Pacific FC. Stay tuned.

Sverre Nypan is absolutely brilliant to watch, one of my favorite prospects right now… but I’m absolutely horrified a Premier League club will stunt his development

Inspired by the work of Fabian Otte and the teachings of Hans Leitert, I looked at the 661 chances through the first 8 Bundesliga matchdays to look at shot difficulty and how it impacts the chances of a shot being held. With just 30% held, should it change our perception GK handling? (1/2)

FROM THE ARCHIVES: I wrote about one of my favorite goalkeepers, Matvei Safonov, during his time at Krasnodar prior to his move to the French Giants Paris Saint-Germain. Check out my evaluation of Safonov here: medium.com/@arscouting/...

FROM THE ARCHIVES: The title of “Best Goalkeeper in the World” changes often, with many players fighting for the label over the years - but is the young Georgian Giorgi Mamardashvili the new Face of Goalkeeping? medium.com/@arscouting/...

FROM THE ARCHIVES: It is rare that goalkeepers are truly strong in all aspects of play, but Daniel Peretz has the makings of a unicorn. Before his move to Bayern Munich, I wrote about the Israeli at Maccabi Tel Aviv who is worth keeping an eye on. medium.com/@arscouting/...

FROM THE ARCHIVES: Scouting goalkeepers can be a daunting task for many, so I wanted to put together a guide on my approach for goalkeeper talent evaluation. Check it out here: medium.com/@arscouting/...

Cool feeling to be in Football Manager for the first time (I think) after spending so many hours playing the game

Definitely days where I miss the views of back home more than others

Will I use Bluesky like twitter? Or will it just be pictures of hiking trips? Only time will tell. To the friends who recommended visiting Enchanted Rock, thank you!
