solid advice, whether trying to clean up your house or your country. just do whatever you can do.

a key piece of all this as we try to push back and survive: make them make you. MAKE. THEM. MAKE. YOU. Make their lives hard and annoying. Refuse to comply with vague and unconstitutional and obviously hateful orders. Make them expend energy and resources on making you. Make them make you.

do y'all even understand how much better and safer my and my kids' social lives could be if the majority of our circles did just this?

Know Your Rights trainings work. Don’t even open the door. Really, to anyone. If it’s someone important and they know you, they have a cellphone, they’ll call.

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

i'd tell you @garyld.bsky.social brought in half a dozen eggs from our hens today, but you should never announce to the world when you win the lottery.

i swear it's not overspun, my tension cord just sucks and does this at the start of a new spin. (although this one in particular is... a lot.)

(re zero body fat ripped male hollywood aesthetics pushing rw subcultures) there's also something about the gaslighting of "what's attractive", because what most allo people *actually* find sexy is queer or kinky or messy or silly or hairy or wrinkly or weird or common. not idealized and sanitized.

Hey: If you made it through the week, and you tried to do some things to help other people — large or small — where you could, and you need to hear it, I’m here to tell you thank you. Get some rest. Figure out today, then figure out tomorrow.

I know we talk about this constantly but it is truly one of the greatest mindfucks of my lifetime. as an 80s kid a Nazi was the most unambiguously, nonnegotiably evil thing you could even be ADJACENT TO, like morality for kindergarteners, and now we have to relitigate that shit every day???? ffs

It is mind-boggling to me that people say "but I had to comply with the fascists because otherwise there would be some cost—" NO FUCKING KIDDING. Did you think you'd never have to make a hard choice in Fascist America? That you wouldn't be asked to sacrifice someone and be rewarded for it?? JFC

Just a reminder that fascists, authoritarians, dictators of all stripes destroy archives— books, museums, databases, &c— because those things provide windows onto a plurality of other ways we might organize the world. And so preserving, defending, and spreading that knowledge harms those regimes.

going to bed not knowing whether the USPS and my freshly-transplanted-partner's health insurance will exist in the morning. it's been one month of this. hold each other. we all need it.

he just... does this. how am i supposed to function.

Yes there ARE things we can do actually get to ittttt

none of us alone is in control, but we do all have a say. use your voice, whatever form it comes in.

ripped up the batt, worked hard to spread out the silk, the biggest clumps are here on the top, but overall it's... betterrrr? next time i might blend during picking, including the silk, or try to make proper silk sandwiches.

sooooo incredibly grateful for friends who are helping us through a really hard (but good!) time. @culinerdy.bsky.social and argh-I-thought-she-was-on-here (say hi Teresa!) got almost the whole way through our kidney-failure-caused handwashing backlog, and it's soooooo lovely. 🥰

who wants fiber prep questions? I'm trying a 70/20/10 romeldale/alpaca/silk blend, and trying to get it to integrate to an even consistency. this is my first time working with silk; on the first pass, i "painted" it on the drum between layers of wool/alpaca picked together. this is the 2nd pass.

knitting handspun is really lovely, though. this is a super rustic mini mill roving long draw shetland/shropshire blend, spun really finely, and it does look a little rustic, but jeebus have you SEEN how evened out but still lively handspun is when knitted up?? never getting over that.

today i think i knit four rows of my never-ending cable edges handspun shawl. moving too slow to spin, have no brain for starting something new, couldn't stand up to pull the inkle loom off the shelf. colds suck.

look, some days i have energy and i am making things and posting fiber and pet pics, and some days, i am sick with a virus a kid brought home from school, haven't seen one of my lifemates without one of us in a mask in over a week, and all i have energy for is scrolling and reposting.

did you know at many libraries you can print things for FREE? here in portland, it's up to 100 b&w pages *per day*, and you can send it in for printing from the comfort of your home, then just walk in to pick it up. ijs.

With lots of good suggestions, Anna updated their flier. Feel free to use it in your communities.

Highly, highly, highly recommend this. Alt text is part of the community ethos here, friends. It's easy - just takes a few seconds.

Umberto Eco put together a now-famous list of 14 attributes of fascistic states. I'm going to discuss each of them in hopes this helps ppl understand that fascism is not just a buzzword. We're going to go through these by theme, so strap in. 🧵

yes! and next up: wear more wool!
