Journalists in general lack scientific literacy and are easily distracted by jangling keys narratives. I once took part in a conference laying out the facts of a water rights dispute between states. The reporting ignored the presented evidence in favor of talking points by political appointees.

I could never understand this until I got to know a couple Dem insiders. They are driven by small stakes personal slights above all else. Similar story for a lot of media personalities. Vacuous narcissists on a vendetta against anyone who blocks them from preening in front of a mirror.
