To me, Sundays are for cooking comfort food 😋 Went for this old favourite, a Masala Omelette Wrap courtesy of the Mowgli cook book.

Movies you’ve watched more than six times, gifs only

Not sure that Otis is totally happy to share his mat with me 😅

More than 1,300 scientists have signed a letter calling on the Royal Society to reassess the billionaire’s membership following cuts to US science https://go.nature.com/41dzNUx

Labour under Attlee, with far greater economic challenges than today, had boldness, vision & a compelling story. Starmer’s Labour fails on all 3 counts, which amounts to laying out a welcome mat to Farage. On eve of publication of #AnotherEngland in paperback, I write for @prospectmagazine.co.uk👇

Thought it was time to try a new recipe from the Pasta Grannies cook book 😋

Otis insisted it’s time for a new Bluesky post… who am I to argue?

Hey, everyone, London’s first and phenomenal gay bookstore @gaystheword.bsky.social is now on BlueSky. Give em a follow.

This is where you go to tell the National Park Service to restore the word "transgender" in its entry on the Stonewall monument. (Scroll down.)

Donald Trump’s second term as US President has begun with staff layoffs, slashed budgets, axed diversity programmes and cancelled conferences in what some see as a new "dark ages" 🧪⚛️ physicsworld.com/a/us-science...

Just released for #LGBTHistoryMonth by @humandignitytrust.bsky.social : an insightful timeline tracing the history of the criminalization & decriminalization of LGBT people worldwide, reminding the connections between colonialism & criminalization. www.humandignitytrust.org/lgbt-the-law...

Our dark Universe detective 🕵️ Euclid has discovered a stunning Einstein ring! 💍 It surrounds galaxy NGC 6505, which is acting as a gravitational lens, bending light from a distant galaxy behind it. Why is this rare phenomenon so useful for scientists? 👉 www.esa.int/Science_Expl... 🔭🧪 #cosmology

The future of the SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System, a key resource for astrophysicists, is possibly in doubt. I remember using this resource as an undergrad and have continued to use it almost daily since then. See @telescoper.bsky.social blog post for more. telescoper.blog/2025/02/06/t...

The Trump administration and the over-eagerness to toe the line of many agencies have caused devasting damage to science.

There are some amazing upcoming space events at the Royal Institution! Including a Friday Discourse by IoA Professor George Efstathiou.

Rubin Observatory disallowing DEI - this is not an entirely US federally funded program, with international and private partners. Are any of the other partners intervening about this?

Yesterday, without any explanation, LSST deleted all DEI and LGBTQI+ related Slack channels. What we’ve been told is that this was done to comply to new federal funding regulations in the USA and that we are actually not even allowed to discuss these topics in the context of the collaboration.

It's great to see this work by Leah Bigwood (PhD student @cambridgeastro.bsky.social) on how simulated AGN feedback shapes the matter power spectrum and group/cluster observables! It was a pleasure to collaborate on this study.

The idea of a "carbon footprint" was literally invented by BP so you'd think about how *you* impact the environment and not how *they* impact the environment. People know this, right? Of course we should all work to minimize our impacts, but some perspective is useful here.

On my way to the @api.uva.nl in Amsterdam to meet with @profsera.bsky.social and her group, and excited to share some work on supermassive black holes at this weeks colloquium! api.uva.nl/content/even...

Roughly 6,000 readers answered our poll, with many declaring that Bluesky was nicer, kinder and less antagonistic to science than X https://go.nature.com/42tH8Ai

Please can I encourage all researchers to sign up as individuals to the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment, and encourage their employing institutions to do likewise? sfdora.org

If you’re looking at what’s happening in the US, seeing Musk considering making massive donations to Reform & trying to subvert our democracy, and are rightly horrified, might I recommend signing this - petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

I have no words

This is so sad

I think more people should be aware that "astronaut" is Greek for "starsailor".

Elon Musk being a fellow of the Royal Society is embarrassing in general but also like - maybe we need to either get our various orgs and societies to give a shit about the world around us for once too?

Was very happy to be involved in this (in a tiny way) and see it published last month www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Arachnologist Lauren Esposito develops community platforms to share LGBTQ+ voices and wants to shed light on the overlooked intersectional barriers affecting queer people of colour. https://go.nature.com/4jiW1vi

Struggling to decide what my first Bluesky post should be, so let’s just go with this 🐶
